I tend to agree that there is something lacking in the way mining is currently implemented.
As you mentioned, the relatively low spawn of ore nodes is one thing, but the game actively discourages you from checking out an entire floor by virtue of the fact there there is only ever one cluster of ore nodes on any given level. That single cluster could be one ore node or, I think the most I've ever seen were five in one cluster, but once you find that cluster -- if indeed there is one at all -- you know for a fact you won't find any other ore nodes on that floor.
You're also discouraged from killing any enemies that aren't directly in your path for two reasons. One, the loot drops from enemies are way, way too low. I don't even bother hanging around after killing enemies to see if they drop anything because 99% of the time they don't. Second, killing enemies never causes an exit/hole in the floor to spawn. Combine low value, low reward loot with no possibility of the exit spawn and you get a 'just go around them lol' situation.
I don't go over to Discord so I don't know what's planned, but the fact that there is no gear loot at all -- weapons, armor, buffs, etc., is also actively disappointing. Hopefully those will be implemented somewhere down the road.
Anyway. The mining aspect of the game is one area that needs some serious love.
There still might be ore nodes in the floor, or gems, or geodes in the rocks, or items in the crates around the room. There's no reason not to explore unless you decide there is.
but that all seems to be intentional.
maybe it isn't and it will all get improved...
While I agree with pretty much everything you said, I would like to note that fighting monsters/swinging the sword doesn't use/require any stamina. Well, unless you count the way they glide/glitch over rocks that you then have to break to reach them.
You are right, I meant the health bar under it but said nothing at all like that, so my mistake lol :)
Once you have "completed" a mine, go back to levels 1, 5, 15 and 25. No enemies and there are usually ores on these levels. Great for getting and selling gold to make some money as well. More if you've enchanted your pickaxe.
Since I occasionally make mistakes myself I commiserate. Cheers :)
Yours is the best solution, for sure.
Yes, it is in the summer update. Remember you will need to pop down to level 40 of the wind mine to trigger the fire mine to open.
