Where does Recipe Cooking draw ingredients from?
I was cooking some Fruit Tarts, using the recipe method, and I wanted to select some basic fruits that I keep in chests for that purpose. I decided to use strawberries and blueberries in the cooking process, so I put 30 of each in my backpack and started cooking. I immediately noticed that the strawberries were dropping in number as I cooked, but no blueberries were being used. Obviously the game engine was taking the second fruit from a storage chest elsewhere on the farm. But where?

I want to use basic or bronze quality crops in my cooking, as the higher quality crops yield no extra benefit. I'm worried that by using the automatic method of recipe cooking, I'm opening the door to the game engine taking Gold and Osmium quality crops from random storage chests on the farm.

Does anyone know how the game mechanic works, when deciding where to take ingredients from? Imagine if you were cooking a Bug Jerky and the game used a very rare Tarantula, or Wolf Spider, that you were keeping in a chest prior to donating to the Museum. That would be horrendous :steamfacepalm:

It seems to pull from everywhere, so you absolutely may use ingredients you were saving. I recommend manual cooking if you are worried about it, so you can choose what to use.

Manually making thirty Fruit Tarts would be a pain in the butt though... :steamsad:

Yes, it very much is. But if you have ingredients you don't want to use, that's the solution for now.
