finding openings to next floor in mine

Is it just random or is there a clue/sign to which rock will give next level opening? There are SO many rocks to search through.

I think it's random. I recommend using your sickle to get fiber and use it to make rope-it's a tedious process though. You can use a rope to fast-pass a mine level. That or making lots of dynamite with copper and coal and blowing everything up to find the next level....although I like to blow up my farm to fast clear land.

Thank you. I tried the rope once but it takes so much fiber for one. I'll try the dynamite.
