That may be one of your contacts from Pokyo. I think you get a letter from your old boss at some point plus some from your family. What does the letter say? (You can see unique letters in your journal)

Lance heard that i´m a farmer now and he wants to meet me, but i don´t know where.

Some of the letters are just filler and don't really have anything happen. Lance isn't an NPC in town. Therefore, it is impossible to meet Lance.
