I mean, it kind of makes sense. How good of a farmer do you think you'd be if you passed out every night and got 4 hours of sleep?
As an insomniac with sleep various sleep disorders... It's amazing what some good caffeine can get you through, in a day ;)
I can understand a penalty in energy regain, but no one just straight passes out because the time on the clock says so... If I ate 50 candied seeds at midnight, it shouldn't matter what time it is; I have enough energy. Let me do what I want to do.
Some people are natural night owl's. Maybe they do night farming and sleep through the day. Maybe you just want to stay up until 5am to watch the sunrise.
I like these types of games when they allow you to save whenever you want and don't penalize you for wanting to explore the world at night. It's a old game mechanic from when Harvest Moon (and others) were primarily on console and they needed you to constantly save to your physical memory cards, so you wouldn't lose your game. In a world of PC gaming and Cloud saves, it's entire unnecessary and brings nothing to the game play experience but annoyance. IMO.
I also agree with OP; Why are you in my house in the middle of the night? I can sleep on my floor, if I want to! lol
Also why is it just me that falls over at 1 am? Apparently some people are awake to find and then bill me for daring to not be in bed. Lol. This feels a bit like being a child. Let us save when we want and go to bed when it suits our play style. If we get short on stamina, there are ways to deal with it. You can say that it's not realistic to be able to just keep going without sleep. (although the character will sleep when we decide to go to bed) But it's equally unrealistic to just fall over every day at a pre-determined moment.
I even had a cut scene where I was in the hospital after I passed out in my home.... .
When I passed out on the farmland or elsewhere then I understand that I would be punished but not when I'm in my home.
