Save at any time OR ON EXIT. PLEASE.
Guys. It's 2025 now. (This post is 3 years old wow) We should not have to go to sleep in order to save a game. This makes me rage. Either autosave on exit and continue where we left off or a manual save button is all I ask for. I hate the never-ending trend of only save when you sleep at the end of a day. Please, please, please.

I like the current system. If you need to save earlier you can already. no one is forcing you to go the entire day. there is no real time limits so you don't have to do everything as efficiently as possible.

Why would you want to force people who genuinely cannot always sit down for a solid chunk of time to experience the game in a worse format?

Yes, you *can* save early, but the game gives you this amount of time in a day for a reason. The game is, presumably, balanced around you being able to use as much of this time *as you want*. Sometimes I save early. Sometimes I want to do more things with my day, so I use it all. Sometimes, I want to do more things but life calls me elsewhere and I don't even have time to run all the way back to my house to save.

Option 1: I quit the game and lose all my progress for that day. With limited time to play, having to redo it is very frustrating.
Option 2: I leave the game running until I can pick it back up. Not always an option, especially if I have to come back to it another day.
Option 3: I run all the way back to my house and save, impacting whatever was calling me away in real life. Definitely not an option.
Option 4: With the ability to save anytime, I save, quit the game, and can happily resume from where I left off as if I were doing it all in one session.

How does option 4 hurt anyone?

(Sorry for a tiny bit of a necro. Just wanted to give my +1 but also address some of what I find to be very perplexing resistance to this feature request.)

Well speaking for myself, I can honestly say that I would not want it, but that is only because I am quite OCD in these types of games. I don't want to wait a game year to catch that specific insect or fish simply because it did not show up, or when it did it got away. With the current system I don't have a choice. It is either redo the whole day in the hopes that maybe I get the chance again or be forced to just deal with it. I don't want to do the whole day again (mostly because each day is like forty minutes of me cramming everything I can in) so I let it go. With manual save, I know I would not be able to stop myself from save scumming the best outcome. Oh I have 20 geodes and want all different items...? Yep I am scumming each one. Need some specific fish? Reload, reload, reload till I get it. It is a problem that I have and I admit it so manual save would not help me. That said, I am not against everyone else having it, and for people without this problem, it would definitely be beneficial.

My suggestion for a solution would be a "temporary save" system. I have seen this in other games (I believe FFTactics had it?) where you can save anywhere and it will create a secondary temp save file and make you exit the game. When you load that temp save it loads the game where you were, and then deletes the temp file. This prevents any save scumming by not allowing you to load that file more than once. So you can play a few minutes, save out, come back later and load in, then keep playing. Full save would occur at the end of the day as it is now.

I like that idea. It seems like the best of both worlds and would certainly fix all my problems.

With regard to save scumming, as you said, it's very much an individual problem, and the choice of some to save scum shouldn't result in the limitation of a useful feature for everyone else. If it came down to having the current system or being able to save anytime, and your suggestion wasn't possible somehow, I'd struggle to see why the current system would be preferable for that reason. But fingers crossed we get something like your suggestion :)

Yep that's all many of us have been asking for, a simple save on exit. Many games do this, save scumming is not an issue and people don't lose time in a game that is all about time management, and events linked to specific days/seasons.

Just in to say I agree too xD. Preferably manual saves I hope, would be amazing! We definitely do have the technology today so I'm all for being able to save anytime. It would be great being able to take a break at any time and not feel pressured to end the day just to save progress.

I've been playing Wylde Flowers and the game doesn't have a save button. It simply saves automatically anytime you leave the game. I mean, it wouldn't be hard for Coral Island's team to put a save button for us to save whenever we want, and keep the diary by the bed. Why not please both sides?

Same. I think I mentioned this same exact thing before. Implement in the settings menu - save on exit vs save end of day.

I've had so many times that my character got stuck and couldn't move anymore. I get it, the game is not finished. But having to start the day over when you've spend a decent amount of time on it just sucks, especially if you get stuck every other day. Please get rid of this horrid mechanic, even Stardew Valley has a mod that makes saving between bedtimes possible. I'm seriously reconsidering if I still want to play the game after the 100th force quit.

What in the world are you doing that you're getting stuck every other day? In 450 hours of playing, I've never gotten stuck so bad I had to use the button or restart the day. What is happening in your game where this is such a common issue for you?

Yea, I'm not one to question how someone is playing, but if you're getting stuck in-game every other day, something is going on. You should keep track of what you're doing when you get stuck and where, because the devs would like to know how you're able to get stuck so often.

That's just what I mean. This isn't a 'save at any time' issue, this is a 'something is wrong with your game' issue that needs to be reported because that is certainly not normal.
