How do I catch the hard fish in winter

The line breaks every time. I can't ever get the line past 1 bar and then it goes backwards. Sometimes it doesn't move at all even when holding down the button. This seems impossible but other people seem to be getting them. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Try not pressing and holding the button but just do a very short click, that worked for me.

just do short clicks until it starts moving, then only do short clicks from then on once the fish is resting.

Also read that cooking/eatting fish soup give you a plus 10% fishing buff but I can’t say I’ve tried it yet…or made it to winter xD

Need to have cooking unlocked (upgrade house to have kitchen) and buy a Pot then you can put in to cook:
Any Fish, Any Vegetable, Sake, Truffle Oil
And it should make Fish Soup

Have you guys actually catch any winter specific fish? There is one that just straight up break the line, once hooked it moves around until the line breaks
