Cherry Blossom Festival takes ALL day?

I skipped the Cherry Blossom festival with my first character, so I wanted to be sure I didn't with my new one. I attended, figured out how to start the festival, talked to everyone, but didn't really want to play the sack race game so I went to leave. The mayor talked to me briefly, implying I had not attended the festival at all?? Then when I left what had been 9:00 in the morning was now 10:00 at night. No way I was there all day. I felt ripped off that an entire day of productivity was lost, because every day counts. Is this how it's supposed to work? The festival takes all day no matter how long you stay?

Yes, you can come to the festival between the mentioned hour, and you should be able to start them between the hour. Hope this answered your question!

To be fair, that's how most of these special days work, they generally take up most of the day, in this type of game.. Stardew valley from memory was no different, or My time and portia.. best to get all your work done before starting the festivals. sorry :(

Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games are the same way. Festivals always take up the whole day.

It's fairly standard in this type of game for festivals to take all day. If you manage your time it's possible to still get everything done before it starts.
