Is it a metroidvania?

From some gameplay videos It looks like the game has some sort of abilities which you can find. Does the game have backtracking to access new areas or the game is linear?

The game does have some backtracking in mind. The game is a blend of Metroidvania/ Zelda/ Wonderboy/ Kirby/ Kid Icarus. So it's not entirely correct to nail it to all the tropes of a metroidvania. Instead we've taken to including the elements of games that work with the world we've built.

Is there any chance of having an in-game map? Like in other metroidvania? Would be awesome!
