[SOLVED] How to leave Owl Temple (before the end game)

I went back to collect a few coins. I decided to explore the way up to the engine room. Surprise surprise, the game prevents me from going backwards...

There is extra "content" there, so I assume I didn't break anything. How do I leave?

you can leave just before the final boss or after beating him i dont remember there's a teleporter thing

No, I mean before going to the Mesosphere.

I went back to the Owl Temple.

Unless... is the way to the Mesosphere through there? If so, I may have gone there too soon? I see the guy on the waterfall and the destroyed tower above. But I can't proceed from there, and the way back is blocked.

Ok, apparently I was supposed to use Spider guy to go below the ground level... even though I don't think this was ever introduced.

Update: turns out you only need to fly through, but also have to be carrying a companion. If you're flying by yourself, owlboy just lands on the floor...

I am having similiar trouble but I may just be dumb - I figured out how to get back to the waterfall from the cloud garden, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to LEAVE the owl temple and get back to Strato...any suggestions? I think I've gone back as far as I can (after returning for coins and the last golden disk) but unless I am going the wrong way, the door I came through is closed. I dont know how to leave! Is the only way to leave the owl temple truly through advent? I also got back to wear the frog chases you...and I cant go through the rubble.

I can't really recall, sorry.
But I think I was able to leave the Owl Temple fine after I figured that I could get through the "ground" (from where you arrived) as long as you're carrying a character.

I actually figured it out - I will chalk my previous struggle up to sleep deprivation and going in circles instead of actually looking at where I was going. Trying again to day I had no issue. My mistake hah! Last time I post a question at midnight after a 5:30am -12:00pm kinda day.

You just double-tap Down and he jumps down from that ledge. It's not intuitive for sure. i honestly got frustrated at that point and pressed all the keys >.> That's how I found out.

edit: I wrote "press down" but upon testing, it is actually double tap down.
