any more games like Roadwarden?
I know there can't be many, but I'm wondering if there are any other narrative experiences that anyone here enjoyed that reminded you in any way of this game :) thanks!

There are heaps of old-school text adventures like Zork, but they're often not as narrative-focused. You can try things like King of Dragon Pass, Fallen London, Cultist Simulator, Thea, A Dark Room for similar experiences that aren't just text adventures. I hear tell that The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante but can't vouch from personal experience.

Oh, and if you want to get REALLY old-school, the Lone Wolf adventure games.
Editing again because I remembered something. The Geneforge series!
thanks a lot for the recommendations @Xom!
thanks for the links, Mikey! Pentiment was awesome! I actually just played it not too long ago
Maybe this? It's not exactly the same obviously but it does have similar mechanics. World map travel is similar, as is dialogue choices with branching options. There is some level of flexibility in your choices to facilitate and encourage multiple playthroughs. I think it's really fun and it has also more pixel art, although isometric.

Thanks for the recommendation! Also I have to say that I just got SKALD: Against the Black Priory and it is a fantastic game that plays a lot like Roadwarden, except with different combat. It was just released and I really recommend it to any Roadwarden fans :)
btw Sunless Sea is awesome :) I've played it with my lil brother
surprised no one has mentioned the "Sorcery!" series, it's so similar !!! unbelievably dense CYOA text-based fantasy RPG. roadwarden's writing style can't be replicated imo, and it's incredible for a solo developer, but sorcery had the resources to be magnitudes more dense without losing any of its engaging qualities, bc it's adapted from an old CYOA book series. each part is individually almost as long as roadwarden itself, your choices carry throughout the whole thing, you can replay it and never experience the same thing twice, and the art is great. enjoy :)

If by "like Roadwarden" you mean well-written indie narrative RPGs, that remind you of old-school gamebooks but with more complexity - here are what I recommend to get started! A lot of them have already been suggested in this thread. I've played all of these and am leaving out titles that didn't quite click for me.

Life & Suffering of Sir Brante - play thru the lifetime of a guy in a really unique detailed fantasy world
the Sorcery series - if you enjoyed Roadwarden you'll love these
Silicon Dreams - interview/interrogation with a Bladerunner twist, I found it really immersive
80 Days - same developer as Sorcery, travel game in a steampunk-ish early 20th century
Suzerain - you're the new president of a Central European-ish 1950s-ish country in a different reality, REALLY COOL
Citizen Sleeper - you're an android trying to make your way on a huge populated space station
Chicken Police - l hardboiled noir mystery, except everyone are animals
Strange Horticulture - you run a plant shop in a slightly dark whimsical version of England

Then here are some that focus on more layered mechanics, but that I still think Roadwarden fans would like:
Heaven's Vault - you're a far-future (?) archaeologist trying to decipher the alphabet & language of a long-extinct civilization, and piece together your own current history.
HackNet - narrative hacking simulator, entire story is told from within a console that you interact with, surprisingly accessible
Return of the Obra Dinn - explore a 18th century ship, everyone died & you have to figure out how & when for each passenger, in 2-bit 3D graphics that somehow wind up being super immersive after you adjust to them. Work of art IMO, one of my top 5 games of all time.
Case of the Golden Idol - another deduction/detective game in the Victorian era w/retro graphics, really addictive tho.
As someone else mentioned Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies are great too, pilot a ship or flying train in another very bizarre alt-Victorian era.

That's at least a couple hundred hours right there, man I wish I could experience all these again for the first time.

I liked SKALD okay. In the first couple hours I felt like the game raised expectations of how big & complex it would be, then wound up being kind of short & abrupt. I think the devs ran out of resources & time. The Lone Wolf games were ok too I guess, but are a mobile port and get repetitive.
I 2nd Chicken Police - and to top it off, they have announced a CP2 coming soon!!!
Night Roads is a great text based Vampire: The Masquerade adventure. Definitely worth a look!
