In terms of story I really like what they did with magic. Only one person is anything outstanding with the golems, with the majority being a mix of healers and oracles who mostly rely on magical ingredients. Most magic is a personal quirk or ability and besides not always being useful it can be dangerous. This leads to many people being wary of it but are too pragmatic to fully reject it in most cases. There are also plenty of things that go mostly unexplained.
Definitely the start you have to play with a lot of planning to get the most out of the unique options. I like the description that besides maybe having a few parlor tricks, they are just a feckless peasant on a horse.
