First 30 minutes into gameplay, out of nowhere, discussing how the party of SOLDIERS got from 8 to 2 "the lieutenant was attacked with a sling, his boyfriend intervened, both died", "jumping in to save a man like that..."
this is poor writting and the reason i am not even bothering to continue playing or will consider to buy this.

it is out of context and added for no simple reason other than to say "he was gay".
Imagine you go buy groceries and the male cashier tells you "thanks. After my shift i will meet my boyfriend". Ok, who asked? why was it put into the conversation?

Even if I agreed with you that this is an example of terrible writing, if this tiny little example of bad writing is enough for you to angrily declare that you will never touch this game again, I seriously question how you can even play ANY video games. Video games are generally not known for their flawless writing and perfect stories. Or are flaws like this only a deal-breaker when they happen to involve anything LGBTQ related?

@Boomaye As a gamer this game only has 3ish one liners like that in my just finished 33 hour play-through, so I would recommend giving it another go, the game is awesome. As a Christian however, your never going to win anyone by offending them, the Word of God proves in 1 TIMOTHY 2:3-4 "...God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." Every Straight and Gay man has a right to reject the Lord Jesus Christ, I don't know why people don't want God's Peace, Truth, and help, but I understand that most just don't know that the Lord Jesus is actually real. So my point is, every time you see anti-Christian morals, try not to attack the people, help them. Just as being with a woman because of bodily attraction can be fun, there is no total peace or fulfillment in it, it will eventually become not a big deal/boring in the natural, it's the same for a gay person. Therefore, when people realize gender identity and intercourse are Not the end all be all truths and peace they were looking for, well praise God come to the Lord Jesus for the real thing, be fulfilled and satisfied for the first time in your lives! The Word of God proves in ROMANS 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." As well as in MATTHEW 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Just try to attack people less, and help people more, overcome evil with good :)

Unlike everyone roasting OP I'm gonna just add, good. Go away. You literally dipped out before you could meet the elderly Hetero power couple that own the next town. Best part is it wasn't even the game that booted you. It was an optional line of questioning that I totally missed because I thought asking that of a grieving soldier would have been rude. Also it's not bad writing to have a character do something illogical, because they are emotionally invested in another character. That's essential story telling.

with that logic then straight characters are just straight to be straight.

can ensure that if the same character in your example said, "after this imma go meet my girlfriend you would have had zero issue with it."

its a book. books explain intention and detail because there isnt visual example bro.... THATS the reason. them being gay is just a minor aspect of their character. if it offends you that dearly then I'd advise you to avoid many works of fiction for the past idk.... all of history. because gay characters or queer characters have been in fiction for longer than we can remember.
