Fyeud tips
Before anyone mentions it, I own the game on switch. I see people are really struggling with Fyeud and I personally think it’s one of the best parts of the game. I started off 0-6 but slowly learned from all of those losses and now I’m 20-27. Here are my tips

1. Play the weakest card you can that will still take a stack. My first few games I would always throw out my best stuff first then in the late game I would have nothing good left during the most important turns.

2. Try to always place the third card in a stack. Especially cards with good left and right values. If the far right has 2 cards and you see your opponent has no cards with good right movement, put down a card with a strong left number. If your opponent can’t beat that top card, you have a guaranteed stack.

3. Watch your opponents deck. As the game goes on a lot of people will run out of good cards for certain directions. It is very possible to put down cards your enemy can’t beat simply because they already used the cards that could beat what you have too early.

4. Use a balanced hand. You may use your “best” cards and still lose. Bigger numbers aren’t always better. I leave some good cards sitting a lot of the time because I need a card with a good right number. Getting into a game and realizing you can’t take anything to the right sucks. Think about the balance before confirming your hand.

5. Don’t wager anything you don’t want to lose. It should be self explanatory but if you aren’t sure if an opponent and absolutely can’t bare to lose a card, just sub it out with a different card. Having a slightly less powerful hand is better than potentially losing your favorite card for a while.

6. Play a lot in the first village! Get every card you can from playing around the first village. Challenge the main guy in the center of the village (the mayor I guess) last. He has good cards. Same with the creature trap shop keeper. Once you beat Foody, and the people who wander around the center of town, the alchemist is a great place to get good cards without a crazy tough battle.

7. Try to take elemental cards. If you own a stack at the end of a game, you can take any card from that stack if you win. Try to make sure you own stacks with elemental cards. They may not always have the best stats on the surfaces but they get bonuses against neutral cards which people use a lot early on.

8. You can cancel while picking a hand. Pay attention to dialogue. If someone says “I’ll warn you, I am pretty good at fyeud” that may be a good time to back out and come back later. As long as you do that before the game starts you don’t lose anything.

9. You don’t have to take a stack every turn. Sometimes the best thing you can do early is play in an empty space. I especially try to avoid playing the second card in a stack because then the enemy can play the third card and block you from playing a new card in that space. You just need the most stacks at the end, don’t go crazy trying to own all the stacks every turn

10. If you can tell you are about to lose, cut your losses. Go all in on protecting a stack you know has your best cards. Opponents can only take cards from stacks they control at the end.

I hope this helps somebody out there. Fyeud is a great little game inside a game and I hate to see people give up on it because they are having a tough time. Hopefully this will help!

Thanks a lot for this! Pinned it!

10) is a very good point, protecting the cards you want to keep!

No problem! I have about 20 hours in the game and about half of that is probably Fyeud. Great design and I am glad you stuck to your guns on the risk/reward. It would have been pretty boring with no risk element after a while

Fyued is genuinely fantastic. Very well balanced, good AI and just fun to play. A game where you just roam from town to town collecting the cards would have been awesome; the fact it's attached to this great RPG is amazing 😊

I have it on switch as well. I haven't played anyone past the first town. I'm sure it gets more nuanced later in the game when you have more elements, but to win in the first town just put weak cards on bottom that anything can beat and save dark elements for end cards to take all cards. I haven't lost using that strategy yet.

That strategy really does do great in the first town. The mayor and creature trap shop keeper have some elemental cards and one of them has a light card, so they could cause you some trouble but the whole first town isnt too bad after you win a couple decent cards

Thanks for the basic tips!...... it was exactly what the game, and me, needed.

Heh... I don't get it. Never really liked those card games though so....
Also it could use a little image depicting the way the damage types interact on the games UI. You know ice beats fire and such with a little legend as to what the heck each damage type looks like on a card.
I know it all makes perfect sense to you guys who get that sort of thing but if you want us thick people to try it you will have to make things a lot clearer.

Cheers.

Regarding number 2, I call cards with low middle but high side values "cap cards" for that very reason.

So is the middle number for playing on top?

Yup. Left number effects battling cards to the left, middle number for battling cards you are playing on top of, and right for battling cards to your right

Makes sense to me! I used the earth turtle that was 5/1/6 for that for a while. That helped me a ton early on
