9th Dawn III

9th Dawn III

Statistiche:
MAGICAL STAFF is OP, bow and crossbow is useless
my complaint

- Magical Staff has lower damage than bow or crossbow, but they have FASTER attack rate, and HIGHER DPS ... and most of all, they have UNLIMITED AMMO

- bow and crossbow is not bad, but they are TOO EXPENSIVE to use ... you need to buy arrow, and the total damage and price rate is ridiculous ... make it unlimited like Diablo or make the arrow very cheap or easier to make

- while melee ... its not bad, until you find a monster that can 2 hit kill you ... and there are many of them in the early stage. I tried to make a TANK build to no avail ... I never know the right combination, and magic can kill you in one hit

with magical staff I have no worry in the world ... just attack and run until the end

Playing melee and so far not many problems. Dual wielding daggers, level 25. Fun so far. Sounds like I'm gonna need to make a character to try out this magic staff thingy everyone been talking about. :)

Don't.

It makes melee look really bad at the level I am at. (25ish).

I really had to invest heavily in endurance and strength to be viable in Fort Hinroel (sp?) and once I got nameless I tossed him in there with a magic staff and healing spells and.... pah! Lvl 10 wiping things out faster with less healing downtime than a 25 melee.

From reading the devs posts there are very definitely aspects of melee such as enchanting that I have not found yet and also 25 is still very low level really so obviously a lot may change as I level up.

But for me as I am now it's very, very, very much easier to use magic and staff.

I do not think it would have survived against being dropped face first into the boss like this level does. Not at all. Would have been splattered in seconds. But for yard trash and ranged magic caster enemies.... hands down better than melee.

So far.

edit - oh and just pimp out the companion with magic. At 25 you will easily get him. Well it's slow as the dungeon is densely populated with yard trash but the boss is doable at 25 even if you have spread some into dex and have no heal potions or spells. I would imagine you have half decent armour and weapon by now. So just saying don't start a new game just to try it.

Level 66 dual wield daggers. Currently daggers are the way to go.
I played a while as mage and realised I'd like to play archer instead, just like in the 2nd game. It also seems far less tedious farming arrows and gold in this game which is great! A little patience is all I need and probably at endgame money is not even a issue.

nonsense thread, bows have the highest damage in the game, just dump points into dex and craft nice arrows and you're set

wands are the worst weapon in the game their damage is really lame at higher levels

I don't like perfect balance personally, I know that might sound like a cop-out as the developer but I actually enjoy things having their own quirks so you can decide what you should use, or maybe use a lower DPS weapon to train to use the higher level version of it.
Less about balance, more about usability: I can't afford thousands of arrows at level ~10...melee or magic is basically required at that point, as neither has ammo to deal with (and even with SP...potion to replenish, so it has an even higher cap since potions aren't used all the time and natural regen is natural regen)

At least let them cost ~1g or 4g for bolts...not like gold just falls from the sky at early levels.

edit: Used 105 of 171 arrows on Loppy: at 16g each that's 1.6k gold at level 7. That's a bit much for early game, an I'm not counting the ~30 or so potions I had to go through in the process...having the "spend to play" class having cheaper access to the required ammo isn't moving towards "perfect balance" it's being reasonable...I have to spend money breaking barrels or constantly swapping to other weapons to farm. That...sounds stupid.
