How do you exploit an archeology site?
A big fat pyramid thing has appeared in one my ruin hexes which also has a rare earth thing in it. I seem to recall watching an LP where the one of these appeared and produced a relentless stream of goodies.

I've clicked on this hex and pressed construct but I can't see anything to build there that looks like it exploits this site except a mine or recycling plant.

What do I need to do to take advantage of this pyramid thing?

Recycling plant will produce artifacts together with 'normal resources'. Depending on 1:1000/1:500 rate of the dig site that is there. Once you will run out of scavenging points - no more artifacts.

OK, just to clarify, you are saying a recycling plant also digs up the artefacts, that's all you need?

Yes,
Chapter 3.4.6 in manual with photo:
"Artefacts are present in this Hex. You can extract them by constructing a Scavenging or Recycling Asset on the same Hex." (one is name for private, other for public)

It doesn't matter the size of the recycling plant, you'll still get the same number of artefacts by the time the scav points get used up, right?

The bigger the Recycler, the earlier you hit the artifact probability threshold, yielding you the artifacts earlier. The amount you can dig doesn't change, your assumption is correct.

You can also play a stratagem card archeological find to ensure that there are any artefacts.
You can watch how it works here:

Actually it matters? Because you have % of probability every time you extract certain amount so if you do more extraction - it will get empty faster?

The probability for extracting an artifact stays the same, regardless of how fast you extract. So a bigger recycler just empties the pool of possible artifacts faster (and in theory should yield you the artifacts faster, but not more).
