ehhh.....how to make energy ammo?
I am not following something.

Started experimenting with laser weaponry.... Cant figure out how to produce and ship energy ammo.

So, a unit in the field, will not recharge from rail line or supply base. OK. I send it to my capital city, with artifact power plant and solar panels....still will not recharge energy.

My nation is overflowing with power. What am I missing here? Where is energy ammo made? Says - in powerplants. I have artifact and solar panels... Is that not it? Do I need to build - actual - powerplant?

Units will simply pull energy from your SHQ stocks during the logistics phase if they have access to a connecting road or rail line with logistics points on it. Since energy is transported for free, this significantly simplifies logistics. However, regardless of the amount of production, the SHQ can only send out as much energy (or any other resource) as it has capacity to keep in stock - if you have a SHQ capacity shortfall, you can construct Power Banks (right-side branch of the tech tree) to fix it.

Apologies for the thread necro on this, but I feel like cranky corvid's answer simply isn't true.

I have two tank units from random discovery that NEVER reload energy, even with my overwhelming glut of energy available throughout my five cities. I have a surplus of 4k energy, yet these tanks never get refilled. As a result, they're little more than poor scouting units that can take an infantry punch.

sounds like a bug to me.

While I would normally agree, SpiralRazor, it has always been the case for any 'found' energy units I have. I've never gotten far enough along the tech tree to find out if it would also happen to units I create.

Anyone have any insight?

Ok, then maybe its something else - are you building energy batteries ? Even if you are producing +X tousands energy - but your max storage is 1k - then only 1k will be sent next turn.

In your SHQ inventory, if you mouse over Energy it will tell you how much was available to be delivered to units, and how much was actually delivered. Are actual deliveries limited by availability? The SHQ sequence is, send to zones, send to units, get from zones. It's possible to have what looks like a lot in inventory (even increasing turn over turn, or even maxed out storage so you're dumping it every turn!), but your buildings are using and replacing it all each turn. None is going out to units because that inventory hits zero briefly before being refilled.
I've done that, even recently (glares at Radiation Cleansing).

I had some "found" energy using units (GR infantry) and some built ones, and had great difficulty figuring out why they weren't replenishing ammo.

It seemed to solve things when I built an energy storage facility. Even though I had an energy surplus, it came up on the units logistics info, that the SHQ "lacked items".

Build energy storage, and it solved it, and the units then recharged.

That was exactly the issue. I normally find the manual pretty comprehensive and helpful, even if I have to reread it a few times. This is one of the few times that I just could not figure out what was going on.

I did mention the issue with power storage in my original post.

I absolutely love the succinct answer Cranky gave to end the thread. Perfect.
Energy weapons draw directly from the energy your power plants generate
