Where to build assets

Hey all,

Loving the game and think I have a relatively stable start, but as I am planning to really start building up I'm wondering where I should be building assets. The world I'm on is pretty barren so for food I'm building agridomes, for example. Is there a logistical advantage to building these kinds of assets in a ring around your main city? Is there a logistical disadvantage to, say, just building it in the middle of nowhere? The assets that are dependent on resources make this easy, but I can't find any suggestions for where to build those other more generic assets.

You generally want the assets in your city or on roads and no further away than 6 hexes because of admin strain, p. 177 manual.

And it is generally recommended to have one farm III instead of three farm Is as they are more efficient when bigger.

Or you could city spam, building a new zone every 5 hexes, each with a farm.

Thanks! I'm not too familiar with the zone mechanics so I'll look into that, but the other comments were just what I needed. Now I'm regretting building multiple farms lol. But I'll push on.

And usually food is plenty - one public farm is enough (or one hydroponic) - you will get rest from private farms build by your population (they love to build them in each city).
