Nerf Guardian subculture
Recently started a new game on normal difficulty next to a minor regime of Guardians. I have been at war with them for about the past 12 turns and cannot defeat them. I have surrounded their city and spent multiple turns shelling them but it has little effect because of their sentinel's armor.

I have spent thousands of rounds of ammunition and can't get positive odds in assaulting the city because of their sentinels inflicting -72% debuff to all my units because they can't pierce the armor.

I am going to try to develop RPG models so I can maybe kill the sentinels, but as it stands I can't come close to assaulting the city (with 2 brigades of infantry surrounding it) and every other turn they attack me and kill a few hundred infantry, some artillery and some militia trucks while they only lose maybe 200 infantry if I'm lucky.

The reason why these sentinels are so unstoppable (even with 510 hard attack tanks) is because they already have crazy high stats for early game (585 hp) it's because of the embedded warrior and assassin androids giving them +100 hp, +100 attack and even more insane with the assassin androids giving them +200% attack and +200% hp. This makes it to where no early game equipment can hurt them, and even mid game stuff will have trouble destroying them. Especially when there are 5 units of them.

Guardians are a sub culture of farmers so they wont be aggressive with you (if you arent aggressive with them) so the sensible thing is not to go to war with them early unless you are prepared.

The idea is that they are supposed to have powerful units! This encourages diplomacy rather than war

Oh, they started close to me so I thought I could easily move in and siege them out quickly (this is what I usually do to minors with cities close to me). So his caught me off guard. Now I'll know not to mess with them in future.

Anyway guardians are both too hard and too generous depending if you antagonize them or not.
Their selling of technologies in early game is an op gift to the player, gaining whole technologies for a few hundred credits at a time your low bp production would made discovering them require a year of research or so.
Also they don't seem far harder to be made vassals than other farmers despite them not really needing your protection with their super units (then even if they are harder to diplo annex, you are sure to gain those the day another major attacks them).

I think they should be nerfed because diplo-annexing them makes the game too easy
