The issue will lie in your logistic network. Fighting a war for the player is a major logistical challenge and a network running fine before a war might not be able to hold up to the strain.
Remember that logistic points get halved at every fork in the road and will only travel so far before dropping off. If you have assets just off the main road/rail make sure they arent stealing 1000's of logistic points because of the split. You stop splits via traffic signs. If I have an asset just off my main line I will stick a traffic light down with 'block everything but pull points'. This means the asset will only get the few 100 logistic points it needs rather than half of the logistic points on the main road.
Even if they meet a new logistic point creating asset (refocusing) you suffer penalties to the number of points. The solution to this is to use a term called 'logistic injection' where you build logistic point producing assets just off your network and shut off logistic points travelling to the asset (as before) but allow logostic points to flow back down into the main network. This will allow you to 'inject' a lot more logistic points into your network than you otherwise would.
Here it is explained:

As a default if you can't build or upgrade resource extractors, upgrade your logistics sources, once maxed out add new stacks to inject pts into primary supply lines. Yes, even if you don't need Pts, it will help you future-proof your logistics network. Also, you don't necessarily need to max resource assets, up to lvl 2 or 3 is often ok. Only go for lvl 4 or 5s if you're really hurting for that specific resource. Don't neglect govt civ point structures either, they can help your pop growth in the mid to long term, and lets you be a bit more hands off when it comes to managing unrest and happiness.
