Shadow Empire

AI and Supply
Haven't played in a while but was wondering if the AI still cheats with its supply lines compared to the player. As I understand it, the player has to use the complex supply system but the AI 'cheats' and isn't beholden to the same supply system as the player. This frustrated me and I'm curious if that's still the case.

Thanks

Middlecore logistic as an alternative option both the players and AIs can use is in the works (alpha state). You can find that option in open beta. Otherwise, it's still the same "cheating".

AIs do not use Midcore Logistics yet, they still get their logistics points for free. The cheating is probably actually worse right now because of the ammo cost changes that increased logistics needs greatly.

There is a change planned to make the AI operate by Midcore Logistics rules, however.

That sounds interesting. Can you tell me more about that or let me know where I can read up on more of this feature? Thanks!

There was a bit about it in the patch notes. The major difference is that on Midcore, logistics points are no longer divided across the available paths when they encounter an intersection. Instead, the full logistics is available through every path, but when logistics is used on one of the paths, 50% of the used amount is deducted from the logistics points on the other paths as well.

This reduces micromanagement, as there's less need to fuss around with traffic signs. The other benefit of the feature is that it removes the need to teach the AI how to use traffic signs to optimize its logistics, so programming the AI to actually require logistics assets is less work.

Are ai now using the above, or is it still being worked on?

It is still implied as a possible addition in the latest development roadmap[www.vrdesigns.net], but it's not expected until several major patches from now.

Midcore logistics makes the logistics far more forgiving to rapid expansion and other such short falls. I like this current option since it's less frustrating for me. YMMV
