When you play autocracy, you can play assassinate leader, it is a leader strat card produced by your covert ops council.
Retirement strats work on reserve pool members only, assassination works on every leader and is a personal combat cov ops director vs target, local referendum works against against governors only and is an oratory roll of target governor which deletes him on a failed roll, so it works best vs low oratory govs.
I can recommend using the letterbox every turn, as you will see newly formed stupid autocracy factions to be killed off in the same turn or results of running your trigger-happy idiot into entrenched in mountain enemy MGs - KIA just magically happen sometimes and are then in the letterbox. If you click a combat result report off too quick, at least KIA are found there, even if they happen in your own turn.
