You can even download it to your Kindle or other EBook reading device. Then you can consult the manual on your Kindle (or whatever) at the same time as the game is running on your computer (or while something else is running on your computer and/or TV).

The manual almost skipping the explanation of units' operating stats. While there is not any pop-up in game for that stats. What exactly "move mod" and "recon" stats mean? It could be nice if manual had such part.

Has it occurred to the devs at Matrix that just maybe if you have to include a 400 page manual including information necessary to play the game at all, then your user interface is an utter disgrace and probably the main reason their games are relegated to this fringe niche?

Did it occur to you to read the manual? If it wasn't print formatted in old-school PC game case style, you're look at 150 pages tops. The interface isn't the greatest but its certainly usable with a few hours acclimation. The game has a high complexity level not simply driven by the interface.

Easy to learn, hard to master is still a thing lad. You can get baseline functionality in most games, this one included, with 2 working neurons in terms of gameplay but that doesn't mean you'll grasp the complexities of the game on your own easily.

Also: If you think the lack of a manual makes denotes an intuitive game.. please, please, try playing Starcraft 2 on a grandmaster tier level and get your ass whipped within 10 minutes, tops. That game has an impressively intuitive interface but lacks a manual for any real competitive play (and as a former semi-competitive player in it: I can tell you they could do a general one that'd be 200-300 pages long going over timings, macro, micro and strategies to use (in broad strokes), easy).

Check your launcher for the manual. If you still get a 404, write to Vic, the dev.

Matrix had a change in forum software recently and I cannot access the matrixforums either with the newest firefox iteration. Chrome (uuuugh) works, though.

Also, in your library page for Shadow Empire, look on the right, under "Additional content", there's a copy of the manual there.

Now we only need to know which one is the latest version, the one on the installation folder, or the one on the Steam cloud :\

But in any case, both should allow you to consult most of the information.

EDIT: By the way, this link[ftp.matrixgames.com] should work too. But it's the same manual in your installation folder (I think).

EDIT 2: Okay, sorry about this, but I have checked, and the one you get from your library page is indeed the latest version (the one you get from Matrix doesn't have sections that deal, for example, with "History Classes" during planet generation, nor information about alien natives).

Someone should make sure the newer version of the manual replaces the older one everywhere, I think.
