Found a City
Does anyone know how to use colonists to found a city? I heard somewhere you can but I skimmed the manual and couldn't find it.

Apparently you first need to build a Truck station on the hex. Haven't actually done it myself.

That worked! Thank you. As soon as I built a truck station, the new zone could be created. Once the new zone was created, a city appeared where the new truck station (and new zone) was.

Glad to know it works. This makes me interested in playing a low human population / high xeno population planet and doing more of the building on my own. As well I could set the fog of war to be a total blackout and explore more wild zones full of deadly critters.

So many ways to play.

You know.. I should have thought of that in a previous game of mine, thanks for the reminder!

Does not need to be a truck station; but some town asset must be in the hex...

This.

Truck stations are an option, but it makes more economic sense to get the city rolling with an actual asset that belongs there.

When is it best to colonize ?

Certainly if you are servicing large mines/factories 6 hexes outside of your citiy- you will start getting overextension penalty (first 10% doesnt do anything, so you can handle 1 or 2 assets there).

There are also comments that the fact - that first 10k population in each city has hidden economy (for food buying) - might favor city spamming as fast as possible - but I didnt tried it yet.
