Final Boss Fight Bug and Crash (SPOILERS)

So I had the idea of going into the boss fight with the Fake It Till You Make It skill, and I cheesed the first part by just never attacking anyone and accumulating skill after skill. At one point, i even got two of the same skills. So about 45 minutes of just dodging the drones and getting the skills, I finally decided to use Kara's app to fight Avie, and that went as I kind of expected.
I pulled my punches and it transitioned to the second phase faster, as I thought, but when I got into the second phase with the beams that disarm you, I never got any drops for Kara's app. This went on for about another 40 minutes or so. I even got the skills icons to fill up to about a third of my screen (I have a 4K monitor for reference).
Late into just saying "frick it" and going wild with all the power I could ever dream of having in this game, even getting to the point where i could just spam the left mouse button and I'd constantly get break hits with a ping pong ball, the game suddenly crashed.

tl;dr: man tried to cheese the boss fight only to get cheesed back

Maybe the devs should try to nullify the effect of Fake It Till You Make It on boss fights? As much as I love that Kraft cheesy goodness of FITYMI + Chompette, it's super broken.
