Why does your default dodge and attack suck so much?
1 damage, no type of stun and the dodge seems to have NO animation canceling, clipping and a long recovery compared to the i-frames it gives you on top of the invisible cooldown. I've died SO many times because Jackie kept attacking instead of dodging or you just get stuck in a mosh pit of enemies with no way of escape.

Hi, dev here! Yeah the main premise of Going Under is to use the items present in the room to defeat enemies. Items break fast, so you are not locked doing the same combos and attacks for an entire run, making you to adapt and change strategies.

Punching sucks and that's by design! Hope you have more fun when you discover the rhythm of the game :>

Oh, I was just gonna buy this and now i read this....
lol, OP, I have no idea how you missed it, but you are supposed to equip weapons. Try it, it will solve all your problems.

I bought it only couple of hours ago, but it seems fun. Combat mechanics are fresh.
Try it yourself, game immideately throws you into gameplay, so you can safely check it out without leaving refund window.

I do but they break on an average of half a dozen swings and are randomized depending on the dungeon. Not to mention forcing you in a task to kill things with your bare hands.
Look I just want something dependable that I don't lose on death or making another run.

This game is good, It's a dungeon crawler in a completely new setting and lovin' the humour
If you didn't notice there's an item that gives you boxing gloves in hand to hand combat instead, intended to be used for said task. Sounds like you just suck and should turn down the difficulty in the options.

Sounds like roguelikes are not the kinda game you want to be playing then.

Well since I made this I /think/ I'm getting the rhythm of combat down better, actually managed to clear Joblin a few times trying to fulfill requests now so it's on to WinkyDink and Styxcoin afterwards. Still, making your default attack suck so much, you might as well make Jackie defenseless if she doesn't' have an item equipped.

Dude that would worsen the problem (not that I really consider it to be one). If you somehow (unrealistically) managed to break every weapon/item in the room before every enemy had died, you'd just be screwed. Punching barehanded is meant to be an absolute last resort to clear a room.
