Is the game worth playing now or what?

EDIT: After playing the new update for an hour and comparing it to the 2003 version, I've decided to refund it because even with the improvements of this update, the game still feels cheap and lacks the spirit of the original (At least the game is functional now). I'll buy it again when it goes on a deeper sale.

From a fan perspective there are various details that could have been improved, but in terms of playability in general it's perfectly fine. It's a decent shooter now with visuals closer to the original and with a not entirely braindead AI.

My primary issue with what microids gave us was the inconsistent and janky feel of the mouse movement and the sensitivity settings. They still fell kinda funky to me and I also noticed that the FOV slider stops working after 90degrees.. I, personally, never had any real issue with the aesthetic of the game, though. If this is the only update and improvement coming, I'd say avoid it.

I think: YES IT IS MUCH BETTER NOW!!! Not one of the best remakes or some sh...t, but it can be played very good now. New sounds, animations and weapons-reaction, and so on. They did some good work at this.

I take this back. Did a complete fresh install onto an SSD and now it runs flawlessly at 120fps, maxed settings. Awesome remake!

OK i was testing and it's REALLY, REALLY better than the first version, i got a good framerate, no drops with a
RTX 2060 Super
I5-9400F
and 16gb RAM

BUT, there is a lot to fix, i noticed some bugs soo

Weapons reloads get constantly bugged, like the akimbo pistol, AK-47 and Dragunov, the weapon magazine got invisible or delays to get in the weapon, so they start to clip or fly

if you reload shotgun with 1-2 shots, the sound start to delay and they pump without sound

Soundtrack is kinda absent in some levels

There is a glitch in the 2º winter base level segment, where the crossbow doesn't shoot, and when shoot, there is no colission or impact

in the escape from FBI level, there is a part with some lights that looks like some kinda ambient oclussion problem

and is not a problem, but something that i really think should be in the game, is that amazing comicbook screen shake effect when you shoot with a rocket launcher near to the player

It's a shame the game wasn't released in a better state. It's probably never going to reach the appeal it could have had even if they spend months patching it further.

Still, compliments to Microids for getting it to a properly playable state.

Paid $20 on sale right before the patch. The game in it's current status is most certainly worth $20.
