Have you tried to validate your files in steam? I had to do that for the game to work.
You could also reinstall the game, but that just takes much longer.

also read post #42 if you have a keyboard with Hardware Volume/Media/Macro buttons like a Corsair Vengeance or Logitech equivalent.
The game DOES run on Windows 10, with any processor and any graphics card.
A potential problem could be the number of cores on your system, if you have more than 4.
If you are able to launch the game, have more than 4 cores and game crashes upon loading the actual ingame after starting or loading a game, try the following:
Create a new cmd file in the game directory, with this content:
@REM This will limit core usage for the game to first 4 cores only, causing it no longer to crash.
@start /affinity F prototypef.exe
Start the game through your created cmd file and check if game no longer crashes upon ingame load.

REMOVE!!! (HID Keyboard) and the game runs just fine no problems.
