Cant open the game (presses enter and crashes)

I tried every fix I could find on the internet, I am running a i9-9900k (I think its because of this being way to new gen for the game not being updated anymore) and a rtx 2080 super.

I loved this game on console and Ive had it on steam for awhile, wanted to kill some people but everytime i open the game (post 'fixes') seems to crash when i press enter and OK at the startup.

found a 'fix' go to task manager, open details, look for steam.exe right click and set affinity. Select 8 cores only and apply. Now try and open the game

for example, I have 16 cores. Im going to disable 8 of those and leave 8 on of those.

In case you still can't get it to run. Try verifying the integrity of game files. It worked for me.However I hadn't played it for about a month and had to re-verify game files again. Don't know what causes it. Runs fine otherwise.

the working fix for me with a 9900k is the steam.exe affinity set to 8 cores not sure why that even works but it does in my case actualy on my older rig i need the HID fix instead

Then you can use "imagecfg.exe -a 0xff prototype2.exe" to persistently patch the game exe and limit it to 8 cores max.

you gotta go to device manager select the "human interface devices" tab and disable the ones that say "HID- compliant consumer control device". i had 6 i had to disable but then the game will launch. once you're done playing the game just go back into device manager under the "human interface devices" tab and re-enable them.
