i think it took me around thirty or forty hours to visit all maps, as far as i know. This is mainly because i spent a lot of time wandering around and exploring everything, looking for any hidden passages. As well as gathering plants and items to trade for food and gear.
The economy is all trade - any high priced items can require to you gather a LOT of plants, since they weigh the least. At least, this is what i did, which may not be the best. It was helpful to gather as i explored since there are plants and search-ables all over, and that met most of my needs.
Certain events occur on certain days. Unless you look them up, this could inflate your play time, as you'll be wandering around the various maps on different days to see if something is happening.
Examples: i think a vendor market pops up around the first village on Fridays. You could be wandering around one of the areas and a certain gathering of people will be doing something. i think the train conductors or something meet at a certain building on Sundays? Stuff like that.
The nice thing is that when i thought i found all of the areas / maps, i would discover something new - and this kept happening until it didn't.
Some important things that come to mind:
The game time is real time - If its Tuesday, its Tuesday in game...all day. The hours are, too. If you work all day and come home at night - it'll be night time in the game. This can cause problems for some players, esp. since night time is more dangerous.
Weight seems to be a hot topic. You'll only be able to carry so much, and will need to upgrade to better backpacks so that you can carry more. i didn't experience too many issues - it's a game of what's important, what weighs less, and going to a train station to use the unlimited? storage. i have a lot of junk in my storage locker.
Combat is somewhat odd - at least to me. i've been in battles where i had much higher stats and get one rounded. It can be avoided, as there's an achievement to reach level 20? without equipping a weapon. When you die, you wind up in a random spot on a random map.
The game also sends you on a quest to restore you petals, which are you 'lives' - you get three lives, if you die, you lose one. if you lose all three...stuff happens but i couldn't explain it. if i die once, i'll go restore them to be safe. As far as i know, it's not the end...but it doesn't sound too fun...but could be interesting.
i haven't done everything and probably have around sixty hours. if you're cool with purchasing a game that'll potentially never see another significant update, may be taken offline as if it were an mmo / live service, leave you with a feeling of wanting more but never receiving it - then you may enjoy your time.
oh - and if you didn't get this information from the video, its an online only game.
Good~Luck!
I'm interrested to try at least, but I also think that I'll wait a bit more to see what is their position about the live service thing.
If I'm not mistaken I think their previous games are still available to play and are also live service so there is hope it will not stop right now I guess.
