Curing the Ring Curse, A Guide:
Should you find yourself a victim of the cursed ring pop salesman, go talk to the guild manager at the crafting guild building in the Crossroads (the ring seller's inventory is replaced with a love poem knot you can buy and give to the manager as a quest btw, but it isn't required for any of this).
The manager will tell you that you can get rid of the curse with the help of a powerful mystic. As it so happens, Resna Rosespring in southern Charwood Forest fits the qualifications, so go talk to her and she'll give you a list of ingredients to collect for her: A willow nut, a wolf's tooth, shade resin, and a curse stone.
-Willow nuts can be found on the ground in Kuro Orchard, they look like patches of grass.
-Shade resin drops from killing shades
-Wolf's teeth can be given by wolves if you trade with them, or kill them. I've met a wolf in Jade Urn, in the cave in the middle of the map with the water you have to wade through. They also spawn as enemies there sometimes, and there's a bandit who has wolves that shows up in certain areas randomly.
-Curse stones are dropped by a ghost/sefra creature called a Maisu. They spawn in Charwood Forest and Jade Urn, and they're pretty tough so make sure you're well prepared (The one's I've seen had 10/10 force/ward).
Bringing all these things back to Resna should cure your curse! I'll edit this once I finish the process if anything else occurs. (Note: As long as you have the curse, you cannot trade with Resna for her normal inventory stock until you give her the ingredients for the cure)
I mean, what does the curse do? I got the same one on my character, but it doesn't seem to have affected gameplay too much... may be worth just waiting it out until you feel comfortable tackling the quest.
AFAIK, burden is a combat only mechanic. If you're not planning on taking the character into combat anyways, that doesn't seem like it should be an issue.
If the guy who gave it to you is of a ghostly nature within a cave you may need some help in seeing him again with something that gives you sight or reveals him. For me the curse seemed to just cause frequent exhaustion so I wanted to fix it to have my energy back. I think it would help if there were better hints about getting rid of the curses, I couldn't find info from knots or anyone nearby or in towns. There was absolutely nothing, I tried many things as a remedy outside of combat since my character was weak and ultimately caved and checked discord to learn what I was missing... heh.
Also seems combat is a common part of the cure.
Until then, for anyone who might read this and want to avoid getting cursed (or avoid the other curse), I've added a section (second to last) to this guide.
So glad I posted here because you are right. Somehow I could see him before but not after (maybe my clothes made a difference--not sure). If anyone is worried about the combat:
He does hit very hard, but it's a duel. There was no penalty for failure (in my case, anyway). Wow, is the combat buggy though.
Expect the curse literally has no description whatsoever. Its called the Seafury Curse and it just says that I've been cursed.
What is it exactly?
