Cursed?
Will this just go away or is there something I must do? Unlike most red cards, this one comes with no instructions on how to remove...

Its part of a quest.

Curing the Ring Curse, A Guide:

Should you find yourself a victim of the cursed ring pop salesman, go talk to the guild manager at the crafting guild building in the Crossroads (the ring seller's inventory is replaced with a love poem knot you can buy and give to the manager as a quest btw, but it isn't required for any of this).
The manager will tell you that you can get rid of the curse with the help of a powerful mystic. As it so happens, Resna Rosespring in southern Charwood Forest fits the qualifications, so go talk to her and she'll give you a list of ingredients to collect for her: A willow nut, a wolf's tooth, shade resin, and a curse stone.
-Willow nuts can be found on the ground in Kuro Orchard, they look like patches of grass.
-Shade resin drops from killing shades
-Wolf's teeth can be given by wolves if you trade with them, or kill them. I've met a wolf in Jade Urn, in the cave in the middle of the map with the water you have to wade through. They also spawn as enemies there sometimes, and there's a bandit who has wolves that shows up in certain areas randomly.
-Curse stones are dropped by a ghost/sefra creature called a Maisu. They spawn in Charwood Forest and Jade Urn, and they're pretty tough so make sure you're well prepared (The one's I've seen had 10/10 force/ward).

Bringing all these things back to Resna should cure your curse! I'll edit this once I finish the process if anything else occurs. (Note: As long as you have the curse, you cannot trade with Resna for her normal inventory stock until you give her the ingredients for the cure)

I found that same spoiler. This is a low level character with no combat skills and no plans to develop. Sadly, sounds like restarting is the quicker solution.

I just want to say "thanks for using spoiler tags!" I myself am trying to avoid many spoilers about in-game content, so I appreciate it, and I"m sure others do as well.

maybe it's possible if you find a group of players and fight ?

I mean, what does the curse do? I got the same one on my character, but it doesn't seem to have affected gameplay too much... may be worth just waiting it out until you feel comfortable tackling the quest.

The biggest downside seems to be the 10 Burden. And it doesn't help this character is Weak. But I haven't figured out how much of a downside this really is...

AFAIK, burden is a combat only mechanic. If you're not planning on taking the character into combat anyways, that doesn't seem like it should be an issue.

I'm sad about this quest. I got a seafury curse with no instructions. I think it makes it so I don't get sparkles on roadside loot--which is very frustrating. I read on a thread elsewhere that the way to break the curse is to kill the guy who gave it to me. So I saved up and hunted down some proper armor and potions to do so. But when I got there, downed my potions, and approached the guy, the combat mechanics glitched out and my character froze. I closed the game, logged back in, and now he's gone. How do I kill him if he's not here?? I've re-logged several times and no show. How do I get rid of this thing? I'm going to try killing every other pirate in the west since there's a note to that effect. But that's a lot of pirates, and they're combat glitchy as well. I thought this was a combat-optional game. :meadowlynx: Anyone want to go on a pirate murder spree with me in this non-combat game?

If the guy who gave it to you is of a ghostly nature within a cave you may need some help in seeing him again with something that gives you sight or reveals him. For me the curse seemed to just cause frequent exhaustion so I wanted to fix it to have my energy back. I think it would help if there were better hints about getting rid of the curses, I couldn't find info from knots or anyone nearby or in towns. There was absolutely nothing, I tried many things as a remedy outside of combat since my character was weak and ultimately caved and checked discord to learn what I was missing... heh.

In my case, several merchants in town told me how to get started, but it's awfully vague. In particular, they say to seek out a mystic, but don't tell me where/when. This also left me "sad" - I wanted to avoid spoilers, but I'd rather skip the frustration this will cause.

Also seems combat is a common part of the cure.

Yep, I just got confirmed that there are (at least) two non-bug cases in this game where "combat is optional" won't make for a fun character :/ I really hope they are going to change that or add alternative solutions.

Until then, for anyone who might read this and want to avoid getting cursed (or avoid the other curse), I've added a section (second to last) to this guide.

It does have an effect on movement speed that apparently becomes really noticeable at higher values.

So glad I posted here because you are right. Somehow I could see him before but not after (maybe my clothes made a difference--not sure). If anyone is worried about the combat:
He does hit very hard, but it's a duel. There was no penalty for failure (in my case, anyway). Wow, is the combat buggy though.

(SPOILERS) What is this curse?
So I just talked to the revenant in West Wind Shore and he cursed me.

Expect the curse literally has no description whatsoever. Its called the Seafury Curse and it just says that I've been cursed.

What is it exactly?
