Dear Traveller,

This thread is exclusively meant to be a place for you to share your ideas and suggestions for future updates of Book of Travels. Is there a feature you'd like us to consider implementing or a game mechanic that could be taken further? Then you tell us right here. We won't have time to reply to everything but we're definitely watching this thread closely. So make yourself heard!

I think the character creator desperately needs customization options, having your own unique character is pretty important to social games like this and I just couldn't feel like the character I created was mine when all I was really doing was choosing from a selection of pre-made characters with only a vague notion of what they'll look like.

For example a height slider would've been nice because the form I chose initially had some crazy jack skellington legs that made me choose someone else instead. Just that alone would go a long way to help differentiate players that are using the same form.

I've seen this suggested elsewhere but i'll put it here too:
I think a simple in-game option for taking notes would be helpful.

I agree, but in the meantime you can take notes on the map. That's what I am doing so far.

I agree, but in the meantime you can take notes on the map. That's what I am doing so far.
An in-game journal was a stretch goal that got unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign, so I believe something along these lines is already planned.

Click-and-hold LMB/RMB to walk/run continuously.
A game with a focus on travel should make travelling as easy and user-friendly as it possibly can. The worst-case scenario is when you are moving directly south. It requires you to click non-stop due to the shallow FOV. Holding a button saves your mouse from unnecessary agony, as well as decreased repetitive strain on your hand is always a plus.

+1. Earlier in the beta you could hold down the LMB to walk, just not RMB to run. Is that no longer working?

Personally, I'd like having an autowalk keybind.
This game is relaxing, it'd seem natural to let the player stretch, lean back and just enjoy the view as the sights go by.

+1 it's weird to see a "clone" of myself. At least the cloth could change with the change of the equipment

I really hope you guys reconsider the permadeath mechanic, or at least rework the death penalty to be less permanent. I fully support impactful death, but not a permanent one - it seems like such a waste for all the customization and uniqueness of our characters as we explore the world.

I submitted this via the in game system as well, but I feel like having your gear physically represented on your character is super important! There is so much detail and care put into the art for each of these items that are in our inventory with no physical representation on your characters. I know that costumes and alternate character appearances are planned but having equipment such as cloaks and shirts visible on our character is another great way to make player character feel unique :)

YES. I am hard-of-hearing, and as I couldn't turn the music down at all during that process, it was impossible to hear the voice selection at all.

Also agree with items being visible on our character, and, while I appreciate the open text 'gender' field, it doesn't mean much unless we can have our apparel and accoutrements better represent what we choose. Otherwise, we're all just androgynous, amorphous beings and gender (chosen or not) is utterly meaningless.

Just a couple quality of life suggestions.
1) WASD to navigate the map and game world panels/screens. WASD not move the character but move the screen around the character to get a better field of view.
2)Hovering tool tips on items
3)Larger UI that goes away when not in use. I saw that there's an option for text sizes too that this old fart is excited about! :P

I love the game so far! I've no idea what I am doing other than exploring and kinda learning the world from the NPCs there and I love that- no hand holding! It reminds me of early PC games, no map pins; you actually have to read what the NPC is saying and write it down/use the notes option on the map. Really refreshing to not have a massive quest marker!
