Also found the reason, since i use a 4k monitor i have set a 200% zoom for text and UI on my desktop in the Windows settings.
Apparently Atelier Ayesha gets confused by that and thinks 1600x900 is the current resolution because of that.
If i turn the zoom off i can select resolution up to 4k in the game.
Pretty dumb but this whole port seems not that great so far.
Lots of micro stutters and lag, no graphic options whatsoever and falls under 60 FPS in a lot of scenes.
And that on a RTX 2080. Koei Tecmo gets worse with every port it seems. :/
Once you get a 4k monitor you should get used to doing this: go to game executable, properties, compatibility, change high dpi settings, make sure override dpi scaling is checked and set to application.
Pretty much do this for all games before you try them. Windows tries to scale applications based on your desktop scaling, which you probably never want. A lot of games have this set already, but many, especially ports, don't.
