dmcr no longer works

hey, when i start the game, this message appears and i cant play..well WHY?

your computer may not recognize that the game turns the windows into windows basics to make it work properly, my advice would be to manuallly turn windows basics on see if that works if not then just let me know and if got more suggestions for you

It works on Win 8.1 64-bit atleast on my computer.

Only thing I did was:
Run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode (DMCR.exe) with reduced color mode to 8bit.

Guys!! After a long time I solved my problem.
If only running if compatibility mode not works try this:

1. Press [windows key]+[x] then press

to open the control panel.
2. find "Programs and Features" then press the "Turn windows features on or off"... it's on the left hand side.
3. Put a tick in the direct play... then restart your system.

SOLUTION: for graphics error, and game speed / scroll speed crash for windows 10

1) Go to the folder steam>steamapps>common>American Conquest
2) highlight, but don't run, the DMCR.exe application icon. This will show the "Application Tools" option in the windows explorer top menu bar
3) click manage, test compatability
4) allow the system to detect best settings. It should select windows XP compatability mode

For me, this allowed me to select my HD resolution under game options, and also slow the game speed down where I wanted it, which was 75% at slow mode.

al revisar los archivos , siempre me da un error de uno y se descargara , nunca se soluciona , despues me dice que no encuentra el disco , y despues el juego va rapidisimo , imposible cambiar la resolucion , esta en ingles puro y duro , ¿no hay steam con los comentarios y o quejas en español? , casi siempre al intentar cambiar las opciones se sale con error cmdr
