How do you get it to work on windows 10

in my case i just started the .exe in adminitrator mode that was inside my steam/steamapps/common/american conquest folder
ohh and set a compatibility mod that it run under windows xp

a little more detailed explanation:

SOLUTION: for graphics error, and game speed / scroll speed crash for windows 10

1) Go to the folder steam>steamapps>common>American Conquest
2) highlight, but don't run, the DMCR.exe application icon. This will show the "Application Tools" option in the windows explorer top menu bar
3) click manage, test compatability
4) allow the system to detect best settings. It should select windows XP compatability mode

For me, this allowed me to select my HD resolution under game options, and also slow the game speed down where I wanted it, which was 75% at slow mode.

Does a "Compatibility" tab then appear? If so, select the "Compatibility" tab and click on "Run Compatibility troubleshooter." After a moment you should be able to select a troubleshooting option. Click "try recommended settings," then "test the program." Your game should begin running in order to test the settings. Don't forget to finish troubleshooting when the game exits (if the game worked) by clicking "next" on the program compatibility troubleshooter and saving the settings
