Hello, I pre-ordered this when it first came to PC but had to refund due to the all of the performance issues. Is the game running much better now? I don't have the most modern of PCs (currently saving up for a house) but it runs games like RDR2, AC Valhalla, etc perfectly fine.

I've always wanted to play it but just been put off since the launch was so terrible.

Thank you!

I was playing the game on an i7-4790K & GTX 970, and it worked much better than Cyberpunk, RDR2, and a little bit better than AC Valhalla. No serious issues on my end.

You can start with these optimized settings and tune them to your liking:
(D) Textures: Medium
(CD) Model quality: Medium
Anisotropic: Ultra
(G) Shadows: High
(G) Reflections: Medium
Clouds: Ultra
Ambient Occlusion: Medium

The letters signify the most demanding settings for the GPU (G), CPU (C) and disk + memory (D).

What are your pc specs? The game runs smoothly on my gtx 1060 6 GB locked to 50 FPS in game. These are the graphic settings I use. Even in the most demanding areas my FPS rarely goes below 45 FPS.

Textures: Ultra
Model Quality: Medium
Anisotropic Filtering: High
Shadows: Medium
Reflections: Medium
Clouds: Medium
Ambient occlusion: Medium
Antaliasing: Taa
Fidelity FX: 20%

Make sure you keep model quantity on medium as it is very demanding on the GPU as it increases draw distance and you will get FPS drops in places like the Meridian dense Jungle.

Ryzen 1600x 3.925 GHz
Gtx 1060 6 GB
16 GB ddr4 3400 MHz memory
500 GB SSD
1 tb hardrive

I'm on an I3-10100, R9 390 8GB, 16 GB RAM and an M.2 SSD and it's pretty darn smooth. I get between 30-60 fps depending on the exact area of the game.

I'll edit with game settings later today.

Thank you! Can't believe I forgot to put the specs on. Here's my PC:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.00 GHz
16:0 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

In my testing, it felt like it was a more demanding setting for the CPU. Possibly also the disk. But yes, it can have a smaller effect on the GPU as well probably.

Your CPU and memory are totally fine for HZD! The GPU is definitively the weakest link here. But your experience may still be fine (for you) if you played RDR2 and Valhalla and you don't mind how they worked.

Don't expect great performance from a gtx 1050 Ti but you should be ok playing on mostly Low settings with maybe high or ultra textures. I recommend you upgrade to a faster graphics card.

In Meridian I think it is more demanding on the GPU with the very dense vegetation and Jungle. GPU utilisation is over 97% in this area of the game.

I would love to upgrade my graphics card but like I said, currently saving for a house so currently not really able to do so XD. Thanks though ^^

If anyone does have any graphics card recommendations though, I would gladly take them as currently applying for better paid jobs so may be able to get one some time in 2022 :)

Generally speaking, just go for something recent with a number with a 70 or higher in it from nvidia or 700 or higher from amd. So, 3070, 6700, etc.

The hard part is finding one at a decent price point because of scalpers. Probably have a new 4000 line from nvidia or 7000 line from amd before too long now, though.

The AMD 6600 or 6600XT might be a worthwhile contender, though, if primarily 1080p gaming.

Yeah, no.

Thank you! I never buy the newest ones as want a decent price. I got this one at a good deal and it has lasted for a good few years so more than happy to look at upgrading when I have the money :) .

This game performs a helluva lot better than Valhalla by a long shot ..... I played it back in July with everything maxed out on a 2080 Super and did 98% of the game including the DLC and didn't have a single crash or issue and had constant FPS in the 70's @ 1440p ... The game has come a long ways since it was released, at least for me and I played it originally on a RX 5700 (non XT) flashed with an XT BIOS and then the 2080 Super I got a 3 months later.

The biggest problem with the game was Sony cheaped out and had a 3rd party do the PC port but once Guerrilla Games got their hands back on it they did an outstanding job of fixing the issues caused by the company that did the original port ..... Ubisoft could learn some lessons from the Guerrilla Devs ......

It depends on your monitor resolution ..... A good rule of thumb for 60 hz gaming is

1660TI/2060/3060 or a 5600/6600 for 1080p

2070/3070 or 5700/6700 for 1440p

2080ti/3080 or a 6800/6800XT for 4k
