After the Skill Up guy talked about Days Gone I decided to give it a try. I have a long history of getting immediately bored with open world games. I loved it and 100% completed it in a couple of weeks. I miss riding my motorcycle around Oregon in the apocalypse and morn the fact that Sony will not be making a sequel.

Horizon I had for the PS3 and really enjoyed it until my interest pootered out about 30-50% in. I am considering buying the complete edition on Steam and giving it another try. The lead was a good character and the game was fun.

I recommend both.

I played Days Gone a while after the PC port was released, so I had no issues with my playthrough. IMO if you prefer a more grown-up and mature game, go for Days Gone.

I've played about 35-40% of HZD's campaign, and I'm getting really bored, not sure I'll continue playing tbh. HZD is competently made, but feels rather generic and saccharine. I don't get invested in the side characters, except for Aloy's father in the beginning. Everything is very "PC" and the game makes sure to "tick all the boxes", but NPC interactions are emotionless and dull (ie. cardboard personalities vs. DG's more flawed and interesting characters).

HZD is a bit more polished than DG, but IMO DG is a more immersive game, and I enjoyed the story and the main characters a lot more. The graphics in DG are some of the best I've ever seen. However, I would use a couple of mods for better gameplay, like no item/weapon degrading, and infinite bike fuel.

DG doesn't have a perfect gameplay loop, but it has lots of heart and soul (unlike most games today). IMO HZD caters more to teenagers and being "politically correct", while DG caters to a more adult audience without any BS (which is probably why Sony dropped the game so easily - also after leftist gaming journalists being overly critical of DG because of its "straight white male" protagonist - yes, we are living in silly times).

Horizon is just kinda better, I mean zombies? Really? in this decade? Not to mention, this is just for me, but I can't relate to how simply dumb the characters in days are lol, how on earth are these the people left haha, should be gone already.

Haven't tried Days Gone, but the voice acting can't be as bad as in Horizon, lol. I quit playing because of it.

Day's Gone has far better voice acting. The lead character Deakon in particular is one of those performances that i'd put up as the best of the last generation. It isn't a show off performance, rather simply does a great job bringing the character to life.

Horizon whilst I enjoy, certainly has issues with its voice direction (hopefully the sequel fixes this). Some of it is okay, but there are moments where the delivery reminds me of watching the room or similar. An odd issue as the voice acting in there prior games did not have this issue, my only guess was the volume of dialogue with Horizon caused them some issues.

I would suggest to get both.

Each of them is good in its own perspective.
Own both on ps4 (played HZD) 2 times already but wanted to play it in 60 fps ect.
Days gone started on ps4 but never got far started fresch on pc and played it out .

Again both are good in their own way.
DG might be another zombie and at start it feels kinda hmm, you have to go trough some stuff but when the story went off I was drawn in.
HZD is amazing and its world feels more fibrant and alive.(less repeat then DG)>

Look for sales ect and again buy both and enjoy.

Gabi: the thing about Deacon that did put me off at times (me being in a grumpy voice at the screen saying shut it) is the fact that Deacon keeps telling he can use crap.
Aloy suffers the same but in comparrison to Deacon it doesnt happen so often and doesnt bother me as much.

HZD is by no means super exciting but from what I have seen of Day's gone, it is.
There is also many telling how Day's gone is a lazy buggy port.

There were issues at the launch, but Days Gone as a port now is excellent. Pretty much bugfree, in my expeience.

What does the decade have to do with anything? Zombies are still popular as hell.

What do you prefer? Fighting hordes of zombies or fighting mechs:wfmerc:Totally different games. Only similarity is the open world.
krakex 7 FEB 2022 a las 4:35
Horizon is something like Monster Hunter with post-apo, sci-fi, open world.
and its still beautiful

Days Gone has better writing and voice acting, especially when it comes to characters. I am not normally a fan of criminals (or bikers in general) as protagonists but they were so well written/acted that I got sucked in.

Horizon Zero Dawn has boring characters. You are the 'chosen one' chasing the story of a Mary Sue from the past. That said, the beginning was well written. The father-daughter story line was very good and certainly impactful. After that, not so much. Though I am not a fan tribal cultures/mentalities, so that didn't help. The game also had a wokeness streak that hurt the writing. Not because of diversity but because agenda-driven writers tend to suck at their jobs as they are more focused on messaging than actually creating compelling characters and story lines.

Gameplay wise, I would say they are technically fairly equal and dependent on what you prefer. I personally enjoyed Days Gone more, HZD felt too gimicky to me. But HZD is more unique (robot dinos and bows) which could be a strong selling point for those not as into zombies and guns.

I finished both games so I'd say both are worth playing. However only Days Gone left me sad it was over.
