Metal Shards disappear (1000)
Hi I have this problem. After a long time, this is the game that i really enjoy. But what happened me twice is that I lost all my shards. And not by crafting.

I was saving my shards for buying a gear. I had 1000+ shards and suddenly, I found out I have 0 shards. I was saving again, and after two Cauldrons I had 1000+ shards again, but then after a while I say that I have only 2 shards. I wasn't buying anything so...

This really demotivates me. Does that happened to anyone? I really want to play the game, but this is a serious problem and I don't feel like playing it anymore.

You need shards to craft arrows. Probably that's your 'problem'?

That's a *LOT* of arrows to be crafted. I do definitely suspect something is up with the savegame function here. People have reported the game occasionally seems to corrupt game saves and this was a PS4 problem too.

Depends! You need 10 shards for 5 hardpoint arrows without the 'ammo crafting perk' (don't know the name of it right now). If you use the '3 arrow perk' you need a lot of arrows depending on the difficulty you are playing on and your aiming skill. ;) The playsytyle is important in this case. If you don't use other weapons, ammo types or don't care about weaknesses... ;)

Crafting bag upgrades also consumes metal shards. For example, to craft all 4 stages for just one Quiver or Ammo Pouch would consume a total of 650 metal shards. There are a total of 13 ammo containers, so that's 13 x 650 = 8,450 metal shards consumed. Then there are the other bag upgrades: Outfits Satchel, Weapons Satchel, Resources Satchel and Modifications Satchel each consumes a total of 250 metal shards for all 4 upgrades so that's another 1,000 metal shards; Potions Pouch consumes 350 metal shards for all 3 upgrades.

So, to fully upgrade all 13 ammo containers, all 4 satchels and the Potions Pouch will consume a grand total of 9,800 metal shards (plus all the other materials of course)! Add all those metal shards consumed when crafting arrows and it's really easy to burn through a few thousand metal shards without even noticing! :lunar2019shockedpig:

Thanks, but I am familiar with game mechanics, I red a lot of articles. I was looking for some way how to loose all metal shards. I am firing only with one type of ammo, so I dont craft that much, I have all, upgrades. Well I am gonna give one more try and really try to watch my metal shards. Maybe I wasn't paying too much attention to usage of them.

BTW, thanks again for your input :)

Yeah, now I am starting to realize, I was upgrading a lot. So maybe it's really not the games fault. Thanks guys

You gotta pay your taxes. The goverment took those shards from your bank account.

That final ammo storage upgrade for each ammo is like 500 shards. The previous one is like 75 (maybe 125?) so its a jump for sure.

Guys it's not that we're not paying attention to the game mechanics... it looks like it's really going to be a BUG in the game.

I see this is not today's topic, but it's still very topical, because actually Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster was recently released, and I actually encountered the bug within this new one. Seems like it has inherited a problem... (At the moment, Patch 1.3 is the latest, there's still a chance they've already realized it and going to fix it soon...)

If you're at a merchant and you sell certain resrouces/weapons and your metal shards get above 1000, they simply just reset (I guess overflow) and your sold stuff doesn't get back into your inventory either.

At first I was just wondering what the 9 hells was that... I must be a total idiot... but when the second time it came up, I knew it... It's a good old bug, nothing special, just annoying as always...

But guys, I won't waste any more time here, I have to report this to Sony (after all, it's been about 4 years from when the game has been released :steammocking: )

I just had something similar happen to me. I'm not sure what triggered it, but I just lost 13000 shards.

I've got a short video of me somewhere in the beginning of "The Grave-Hoard" mission, having over 13K shards, and now if I use a save to get back to a later part of that same mission I have 252 shards. I would have crafted some ammo in between those points, but there's no way that I used up all those shards. So definitely a bug.
