W2 was hands-down the best one for melee, but I guess dummies couldn't figure out chained attacks so they went back to basics for 3, so be careful what you wish for.
if that's what you're comparing, not the controls "control" of mouse1 is swing, up is forward, left is left, then yes, it's very different. controls are the same, moves are not.
if continuity of gameplay and character skills is what you're expecting, you'll probably refund it before the 2hr deadline. that is, if you want the same exact gameplay and leveling but sequel content? because Guerrilla went the other way, well you already know all that, so we changed it to bring you a brand new experience.
yes the controls are the same, but combat itself is different. like really different. everything is. toss most things you know about ZD machine fighting out the window, and you can tack your rant to one of the many "I wish this was HZD fun and not such a grind" threads if you find you hate it. everything's more complex and specialized. it's just familiar enough that you'll pick it up quickly, but it is not the same. it's about 50/50 those that complain and those that praise it.
like do you use long dive to get away from big machines? well, no, you don't, that doesn't exist now. but you have timed melee attacks sequences, weapon techniques, and the lovely valor surge system. oh, and your spear charges up to release abilities, like the resonator blast. (you attach a "bomb" then shoot it) and unlock more power moves.
even navigating the world; it's the same, but different. a lot in 3D space, you have a glider and can launch a grapple; shieldwing and pullcaster alone are going to change how you get places, and climbing is now freeclimb, not constantly scouring for those little yellow spots finding the starting handhold.
look - you have to learn character control technique of every new game, including this one, why should FW be any different simply because it's a sequel? please don't let that be the deciding factor, if you like this, you'll probably like goin' West. At least give it a try.
Yes once I upgrade my system I will probably try the game. Maybe it will be better. Maybe worse. Aloy was okay but I enjoyed the immersion in the game. The character could have been male, female, or mutant for all I cared. The way the game played out was all. The comedy was good too. I found a lot to laugh and cry about.
witchers, that didn't even enter my radar, new game, new ways... for me it was the retcons more than anything, as I said for me 2 was the most fun combat-wise, I missed maybe 3 chained attacks of 6 in the entire game on hardest difficulty...
like in witcher 1 and the novels, the wraiths of the wild hunt are freakin' actual spectral, traditional spirits of the dead, wraiths... and we get to 3 and they're living elves?! NO!! DO NOT DO THIS YOU MOTHERFICKLE SONS OF...
