I wanna kill Olin cause he deserves it... But I did not....
F*ck, All for the all allies gathered achievement.

It's eating me inside man. I guess it just hit too close to me on my personal issues. So much so, I am considering redoing that part and changing my choice.

What's interesting is I wouldn't kill Nil because he's just killing murderers though he's probably a double head lawful evil snake that murdered bandits and committed unspeakable evil in the name of the sun king.

Olin was just threatened with his family and had mitigating factors, but he strikes me as abit of a mercenary sc*mbag that only had abit of a conscience if u watch the cutscene.

The reason being Nil actually helps you while Olin is a d*ck that brushes you off and throws u under the bus for his selfish motives.

And he gets Rost, your only family kllled.

I am just curious man, what do you guys think, and what would you guys choose.

I killed him several times and the outcome is the same. Save his family, praise his actions to his wife. Either way the outcome is the same. Praise for Olin

I interepreted his behavior to Aloy at Mother's Heart as, ironically, his conscience bothering him. He had to know anything unusual he saw would be used as intelligence by Helis or by HADES, and when his worst fears were realized the only thing he could do realistically was disengage. If he warned her, his masters watching through his Focus would have known about it.

Watching the whole story again in totality and on hindsight, yes.

Coloured however with my bias due to people brushing me off the same way, and sometimes saying whatever it takes to save themselves and giving excuses mostly, well no.

But anyhow, everyone can have an opinion

The beauty of this game is how it frames things one way if you've never played before, and another way if you have.

So yeah, Olin looks like kind of an asshat at first, but then you realize *why* and it all falls into place.

I chalk it up to bad writing and the fact that they rushed the conclusion abit.

Unlike Zaid that was a two headed snake that had some precursors and reconfirmations to him being bad, Olin had very few cues suggesting he may be threatened.

The fact that they choose to put the evidence in his secret attic where he confessed he was forced to do so due to mitigating circumstances in such an impersonal way also makes it hard for you to feel for him as a person.

Almost like they wanted u to choose that he die as Aloy. I think the writers had personal issues with cowards with mitigating circumstances that did not stand up for them and took it out on Olin XD.

The way Aloy says it also after that is like "Hmph... I can't believe I am not killing you" ... Is almost as though the writers are disgusted at our choice.

Writing it that Ross would not have wanted this as a flashback to her childhood scene with throwing the rock and him shooting it out might be better....

But since they gave us the choice even for throwing the rock, Aloy's character consistency is more or less wrecked as a result... *sighs as I see it more and more as the game progresses*

my first playthrough i thought erend was a crook when he met aloy at the blessing turns out he is her alliy

Haha he's just abit of a socially awkward guy. So I have a soft spot for him.

But I guess given the range of socially awkward to crossing boundaries and stalking, yeah it's not a surprise you would assume that.

But he's abit refreshing in a way.

Things like "I dun get how everyone telling me they also lost someone is supposed to make me feel better"

Well that's really true actually though.

I let him live because I feel like that's what Aloy would do. She is a disney princess and her heart is capable of almost infinite forgiveness.
JuFuggie Jul 28, 2021 @ 6:09pm
You've put Aloy on a pedestal. I am saying it in a nice gentle way though I am about to roll my eyes.

Aloy is human. She gets angry and is in fact downright rude to the initial Sunhawk at the hunter's lodge and fights for her rights when bullied.

She's mean to Erend and insensitive and almost refuses to help him... because of her own rage and agenda...But too bad it's a main quest and you have to =p.

She has moments where she's angry cause Olin killed her family although she knew of mitigating circumstances.

I am also quite sure it's implied she's lesbian. Her interactions with some of the female characters seem to show that.

The way she said "I thought you were gonna do this with me" in a disappointed tone before Tanalah walks off. Oh ho ho! I've never watched lesbian action before, but I might do it just for them.

"Disney princess" *chuckles abit*

There's this thing called hyperbole, you should look into it.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. It's pretty clear that Aloy is at least bisexual, if not a lesbian, through her interactions with others. What's your point? You can be a disney princess and still be a lesbian, look at Elsa.

JuFuggie Jul 28, 2021 @ 6:33pm
Haha there's no real proof that Elsa is lesbian nor is it at all implied. She's just more introverted due to her parents mismanagement, so it's hard for her to open up to anyone.

I see that as the main reason why she's not found anyone in her life.

And Disney would not be so bold to do this for fear of backlash and offending the more traditional crowd that watches their shows. ;)

'Let it Go' is the gay anthem. It was the narrative at the time and Disney let it go without correction. Everyone knew her entire story was a metaphor for growing up gay - especially the part where she shoots dazzling ice from her fingertips.

Again that's subject to interpretation.

Could just mean it for something else, like surpressing following your true talents for your parents wishes.

The way you stretch it, I could say 'Defying Gravity' is a song about coming out as gay, when it is just about being true to yourself and who you are whatever that may be.

Read the fine print of the All Allies achievement. All Allies gathered does not list Olin as an ally necessary for the achievement, because he's either A) dead or B) far away with his family by the time you get to the endgame. You can even kill Nil and still get the achievement, because the game recognizes that you may have previously killed him. Literally the only thing the achievement requires is that you've done quests for specific people.
