I don't know who raised you, and don't want to, but she's confident, and is driven to find her Mother. She isn't narcissistic, I am not convinced you know what that word means. Driven, confident people can be irritating if you're expecting women to always be cuddly, and giggle a lot. She ain't like that.
Your option I guess is go play Dark Souls Remastered. You can choose your gender there; Who is completely silent - bonus points!!
Aloy is allowed to be a grumpy outsider who thinks that while maybe individuals can be pretty smart, groups of people can be remarkably dumb. "Never Underestimate The Power Of Stupid People In Large Groups."
Your problem can be solved by playing something else.
Well, if the OP has been watching & reading the same kind of content as his post indicates, it certainly seem so!!!
Both of what cswiger & dcy665 said about Aloy is spot on from what I've seen. I watched one YouTuber's play-through about 5 times after it came out on PS. Then I got the chance to play it for a few hours at a friend's house a few years later. Seen NO evidence of her being egotistical, condescending, a jerk, etc. In fact, if you pay attention to the first few cut scenes, (the ones where she's ~7 or 10 yrs old or so), she essentially starts out looking to have what amounts to a full family (in the case of their culture, a Mother). This is most obvious in the scene with the 3 other kids gathering berries & the mother-figure. Aloy tries to contribute to the group's efforts, in hopes to receive affection & a sense of belonging, only to be shunned. (Quite literally, as is said by the woman in that scene.)
And now that I'm actually talking about the subject, I just realized the topic of "missing/mothers" is *exactly* what Aloy & another character with a missing mother talked about in a dream I had a year or two ago....huh. Funny how the human aspect of that dream didn't carry over to my conscious mind until now...
Don't worry, she doesn't like you either.
Quick fyi side note to the OP: I humbly suggest you to take a good look in the mirror before passing judgement onto others because usually a fair decent % of being a jerk is required to recognize another.
idk man, i was kinda skeptical at first because it seemed like there was some woke feminist bs going on, but honestly, most of the time shes fairly empathetic and is a typical "good guy" hero type whos traveling around helping everybody.
You've only played an hour or 2 and probably havent left the Nora lands yet. Theres another 30-40 hours of story telling, side quests and errands that helps with the character development
Some people Aloy simply kills without any of the drama you mention. Other people, Aloy is nice to or has a complex rather than a one-dimensional relationship with.
PS: You should evaluate the meaning of the "All Allies Joined" achievement, which contradicts your claims.
Afraid you might not like the second one then as I felt they double downed on that narrative a little bit.
