I can't handle Aloy's face

I used to own the game on PS4 but found myself putting it aside rather quickly. I've been tempted to get it on PC a few times now when it's on sale but for some reason that face of her's just puts me off too much. To a degree where I can't bring myself to play it...It's like she's packing an extra chromosome or something, that shape and expression on her face just annoy me to no end.

The crazy thing is that the real life person she was modeled after is really cute:

They just did a terrible job translating that to the game imo.

lol no compare the women in the Mass Effect original trilogy with the women in Mass Effect: Andromeda lol they made the female characters in the new game look so bad.

Or compare the female characters in the 2023 version of Dead Space with the 2008 version of Dead Space.

Noticing all of these are EA games, I mean... it seems like EA is trending in the worst direction.

Obvious troll is obvious. Nonetheless, Aloy is unequivocally female. Every character in the game refers to her using "she/her" pronouns and she never contradicts them, unlike Warden Janeva, who, as far as I'm aware, is the only "ambiguously gendered" character in Zero Dawn. During bandit camp raids, Aloy refers to herself as "she": "Uh, she went thataway." While talking to allies before the "Face of Extinction" fights, she uses the following self-referential line when addressing Varl: "She doesn't much like being called Anointed either." During a conversation with Teersa concerning her origins, she refers to herself as an "infant girl." There are probably other examples. I personally think Aloy is quite pretty in Zero Dawn and especially in Frozen Wilds. Other people disagree. That's their right.

I get that Alloy is less attractive in the second game but if you think she is ugly in the first one than i guess Anime has rotted your brain. And i am sorry to say anime is not real.
At best you will manage to enlighten yourself by the time you reach late 20s early 30s and finally find love and have sex.

I never even paid attention to how pretty or ugly she is. I didn't buy the game for her face lol. For all I care my character could be headless. I'll never understand why people pay attention to such trivial things.

More attractive people can demand higher beauty standards in their partners without being lonely. You don't have a clue how attractive or unattractive he is, and to make such assumptions based on a Steam forum comment seems highly presumptuous and bad mannered.

From the get go, I never realy got into why this was a topic at all. I'm using some "QoL" ("Quality of Life") mods upon Horizon Zero Dawn (HZD) and none of those tampers/changes Alloy's face nor her body proportions (i.e., got "Multi-coloured Hair Braids" and "Enhanced Focus"). Her jaw line is a tad wider than upon most females but considering the way mild cloning flaw during that process and assorted "Evolution" patterns that drove Humanity in between it can easily justify that difference from the original Elisabeth Sobek and Alloy. And, imho, even with that slightly more masculine jaw line it doesn't make her unattractive by most people's standards.

Guess that some perfectionists didn't had nothing else to complain about at this time of the year apart trying to nitpick prejudices on how a game, HZD in this case, decided to portait all of their characters.

hmm.. I never actually noticed anything remotely offensive about Aloy's character model when I first played this game, well over a year ago.

My mind was actually drawn to the story of Aloy's difficult beginnings, which is meant to form a bond for the character on a more substantial level. For me, personally, the devs managed to succeed in this area, which helped keep me locked in the game.

For this specific story and time setting, I felt it was appropriate that she wasn't all dolled up with attractive make-up and a sexy hair style or have the body type of a bikini runway model. But then again, beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

I don't mind hot looking game models. But each game has it's purpose and what they're able/willing to do, to please fans of whatever the genre is.

I saw images of Aloy from Forbidden West. My understanding was that some of those shots were the least attractive angles taken from the updated Aloy model (where she's now older and tempered as a warrior). But I also saw actual in game cut scenes where she looked alright and not nearly as unpleasant.

I dunno... If you can't play a game that's been dubbed by fans and critics as an incredible experience, because she's not "hot" or "cute", then maybe it's time to put the roller down and try something else, or hit up nexus modz to see if you can adjust it to your personal tastes.

There's plenty of games out there to rummage through that will fit your wants and needs.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a great game. Excited for Forbidden West to come to PC.
