The game wont even start.
i have no idea why the game wont run. i bought it on Epic Games launcher originally, and it did the exact same thing. it doesnt even open. i got it refunded and bought it on steam, and it doesnt open, i checked the rest of the discussions, and ive seen people talking about them also having problems like that since the last update? but i just bought the game so i wasnt even around then. is this a problem that will be fixed soon?

To be fair im running a ryzen 7 3700x and an rtx 2080 and i get the same issue. Game just crashes before it even launches.

I've been playing it for 29 total hours with no crashes and after the new patch it now just crashes at launch.

it's not being fair as the op didn't even post his specs.

most of the threads i've seen from people complaining that the game doesn't even start is from either non-avx systems or non windows 10 systems, or both.

My game worked until this patch now it crashes every single time on start up!
So I have some 56 hours into the game no problem. I try to start it this morning Aug 14 2020 after they pushed the patch out without telling us, it will not start. It crashes every single time now. I loved the game but now I can't even play it any longer.

try deleting the PSOCache.bin file from your game directory in LocalCacheDX12 and verifying game data.

I finally got mine working. I7-8700k rtx 2070. I found a thread that had me turn off cloud saving, delete profile folder from "save game" file in documents. I have not enabled cloud save again and i can once again launch the game. Before this, i got an error every time i tried to launch the game.

Oh wow, please don't re-download it lol. That's never fixed anything. Never re-download, always just verify the games local cache.

Also, the problem isn't the patch its Geforce Experience optimizing the game This breaks the game, makes it not launch. roughly a day ago they added this game to GE, which is why it didn't break until now.

*disable auto optimize in GE
*Turn off steam cloud sync
*Delete the profile folder found here:
SystemDrive:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Horizon Zero Dawn\Saved Game\profile
*run the game
*turn cloud saves back on

That removes the changes that GE made, prevents GE from re-corrupting the settings file and prevents you fetching a broken copy from the cloud.

Why would you think a different storefront would have anything to do with the game not working. Post your specs if you want any help. That is always the place to start so that people can verify it can even run on your PC.

I can't even see the game in GE right now. IDK but I remember I was able to see it

After trying to launch a game it just dumps error report and crashes.

Windows 10
Geforce 1060
intel i5-6600k
16gb ram
newest drivers and c++

installed game for the first time. I have tried many of the solutions mentioned but nothing works
