Just use what is Fun for you. Jesus.....
Tripcaster for blast wire, Sharpshooter for tear arrow, Hunter's Bow for DPS and Fire Arrow, and Warbow for Electric/Frost effects. Covers all your bases.

My Maindamage comes from Shadow Sharpshooter. So.....
That's only for people who can aim.

Well, i am never a perfectionist, i personally have 2 hunter bows and 2 war bows. 1 Hunter Bow for Fire, The other for Normal Attacks (damage and Tear) the war bows, i have 1 for Shock and the other for Ice and buff them up with Rune thingys.

Always worked for me on the PS4 version.
With the way modifications work, that's a clever idea. Never thought of runing with two hunters.

Ya Elements are nice. But raw damage on weakspots gets any Enemy down fast. No matter how big.

You "should" use whatever you want, the game is balanced about weapons imo. On Steam I play with sharpshot bow, hunter bow, tripcaster and ropecaster but on PS4 I used to play with all weapons in my bag and switching very often depending on the situation.
The rattler is really fun imo but the ammo are expensive.
Highest dps would be blast sling... Sharpshooter if you want to aim for weak spots or tear off components.

Blast sling + freeze arrows from war bow can kill a Thunderjaw in about 15 sticky shots. Though, if you combine with Sharpshooter blast tear arrows, you can knock out all of its guns before the fight even starts.

But to kill stuffs fast (for anything without freeze resistance)... just warbow (freeze arrow) + blast sling (sticky) ~250 dmg per shot when frozen (not hitting weak spots). Mod for handling + dmg. Can dish out around 2 shots per second (a lot more with slow-mo). That's roughly 500 dps without slow-mo.

Personally I would suggest a Specialized Weapons when you Shadow Stuff. Depending on the enemies a Fight can be super quick or hard. I have 2 Shadow basic bows for damage and other for fire. Rope one only need one.

Cryo bomb are best and shadow 3rd arrow board head one really good.
Sharpshooter bows my favorite especially in early game. Tripcaster and traps a must when you have a chance to prepare an ambush especially inside Cauldrons. Your playstyle will change as you become more powerful. All the weapons have specialized uses so it's good to have one of each. I never used the ropecaster but that's just me. The sling is very powerful but will burn through your resources in no time. Save for late game.

When you get the Armor from the Armory, you dont care about ambushes that much anymore.

Only if you play on lower difficulties. On Ultra hard the armor only blocks 140 dmg. That is less than 1/5 my hp right now. The Ancient Armor is VERY weak compared to other armors because it does not have any modification slot.

Specializing for certain situations is always better. 3 mods with melee defense can reduce up to 60% melee damage received. I have 2 freeze mods on my Banuk armor right now. I can literally stand in frost for an hour without losing 2 hp.

Is the rope caster any good? Or am I better off using the freeze bow instead?
