I didn't change anything between yesterday (when I could play the game although it would crash after a while) through today (when I can't play the game as it now immediately crashes on startup before even opening the game window) other than finally applying the July 9th Steam Client update.Try this works for most.
Yes, I'm getting crashes too, about once every four hours. It's a well known issue that this port is not stable and GG is working on it as we speak.
In the meanwhile, you may want to install MSI Afterburner to track memory as you play the game, disable your steam overlay, close all other programs (ideally restart) before you start the game, and save frequently as you play.
Hi guys, the same thing happened to me.
Can you guys try this?
1. Disable steam cloud update for HZD
2. Go to your save folder mine is in Documents\Horizon Zero Dawn\Saved Game
3. Backup the entire save folder somewhere
4. Go to "Documents\Horizon Zero Dawn\Saved Game\profile" and delete the content
5. Run the game again
step by step
Right click horizon zero dawn in your library. Click on properties. Go under updates, and at the bottom there should be a check for steam cloud updates. Uncheck it
On the windows search bar search for Documents . Go under horizon zero dawn. Go under saved games. Find the profile folder and move the profile folder to the recycling bin.
The game should start up after this is done. Once the game started up, you can go back into horizon zero dawn properties<updates<and check the box again for steam cloud updates.
Holy crap, that worked! I didn't have to even restart the game as it didn't affect my saves. I just backed up the Save folders (just in case), deleted the profile folder, launched the game (it did its first launch optimizations), fixed my game settings (they were all changed), and then loaded my save file that was still there. Thanks for this!
same thing here ... was playing fine yesturday and today puff. not workint at all ...
I tried but There is no folder in my Saved game. I don't know why.
If you cannot find any folder. Try other drive C D OR any other
My steam is installed on D: My games are on E: took me a while to locate where it was.
So try documents in C: D: E: and keep going as many u have. Documents hahaha must be there somewhere. Is not the same saved games inside steam folder.
Confirmed that this worked for me, thank you.
I found my folder there in Document but in Saved Game folder is empty. Anyway thanks you guys for help. I better wait for the next patch.
