GTA has a more comical story with a lot of bizarre and ridiculous things happening in the game. it also has multiplayer but id avoid it as its a crap show with a lot of cheaters.
Horizon has a more serious story, a better crafted world, and a lot of lore and side quests that will add to the story more overall. there is no multiplayer but it is not needed.
so honestly its up to you if you want to be a thug with a hilarious story or a hero with a more serious story. both are great games.
I wouldn't call this game insanely hard but this is a much more difficult game. It also has newer and more responsive gameplay. I feel like these are better answers to give. Personally I recommend this one.
This game is much harder. You're going to have to pay attention.
The driving is simplistic and arcade. Most of the map has no purpose.
But its worst sin for me was the crime system and how the police will magically know if you do something bad, even though you may be out in the wilderness and nobody is around (and they then spawn en masse out of nowhere, in that on-the-nose artificial video game way).
The way the crime system works slowly but surely sucked all the joy out of the game for me. That system is literally stupid. They had all the money in the world to come up with a good proper one but they didn't, they chose simplistic and stupid.
Then, there was that time when they moved against modding and sent legal threats to mod makers, demanding that they stop or else. They could still be doing that, I wouldn't know, because all of this doesn't make for a good customer experience imho, so at some point I've simply put that game back on the shelf for good.
The multiplayer aspect is utter garbage, it's filled with glitches, exploits and bots. despite the insistence that the developers crack down on the way some of these players have cheat programmes, there are more and more climbing out the woodwork each day like the termites they are.
HZD is purely single player, it has a storyline (but how you personally define it is up to you). This game is more along the likes of far cry and assassin's creed than it is GTA 5 though.
