Need help with modding
Been wanting to install some mods off of nexus but whenever I try to find the file location, it takes me to the folder with all my steam games, not the page where the dx12 file is.

Sounds like you got part way there. Now keep going and you should find the rest. If you are in the folder with all your steam games the logical next step is to go into the HZD folder.

Mods often come with a readme file with help to get to the path if you need more guidance. But once you are inside the HZD folder, finding other folders won't be hard.

I don't have it installed on this machine, or I would cheat and give you the rest.

The only issue is that I've been seeing people right clicking the shortcut on desktop and opening file location and that takes them straight to it, not the steam games folder. And right clicking the game in this document location doesn't offer to open the files either. The read me page also just says;

-go to "C:\Programs\Steam\steamapps\common\Horizon Zero Dawn\Packed_DX12"
(or wherever your HZD installation is located)
-just paste the .bin files into the Packed_DX12 folder

I'm not sure if I'm missing something because I'm kind of a newbie at modding or if I genuinely don't have the option because of something more technical.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying.

You can just double click folders, mind you. No need for right clicking to open the folder. Are you saying when you open the Horizon Zero Dawn folder, you don't see more folders?

Don't right click the game either, if that is what you are doing.

I'll kinda list a walkthrough of my process;

- Copied mod files
- Right Click the application for zero dawn and select open file location (via the windows search in the bottom left because the option wont show when I right click the shortcut on desktop)
- Takes me to appdata/roaming/microsoft/windows/start menu/programs/steam

This is where I'm kind of stumped. It's just all my games applications.

OK. Lets do it this way.

Right click on the game in your steam library
click properties, which opens a popup
on the left side there are options, one is local files, click that
now on the right you should see a browse button, click that

That should open windows explorer, and the folder location

The exact folder location will depend on where you installed Steam, so everything before the "\Steam\" part is likely different for many players. For me, I installed Steam into a "Games" folder on my F drive, so the full path to my "\Packed_DX12" folder is:
"F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Horizon Zero Dawn\Packed_DX12".
So, to know where to look you first need to know where you installed Steam.

Right clicking on the games shortcut (whether on desktop or in the Start Menu) will simply end up taking you to the folder where the actual shortcut is located, so that's NOT what you should do! Follow the instructions given by Moga CMDR above to use Steam itself to find the location where the game is installed on your system.

Thank you so much for this! I searched everywhere. Much appreciated :)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
