Clean install of HZD 1.11.1 on Fedora w/ Proton 6.3-8

Unfortunately even with a very recent nVidia driver update which just got pushed out today it looks like I have the same issue with the grasses and whatnot.

Disappointing!

But I am pleasantly surprised at how simple it actually was, mechanically, to get the game up and running on Linux. :)

I will never understand why Linux people do not buy the game on GOG when troubles with updates are that obvious. Like 99% of people having issues here are Linux people. It is really easy on GOG to jump between versions.

I already had it for Windows on Steam, so why re-buy it?

I have no idea what a v. GRD means but the version # is listed in the screenshot I linked.

Do you literally not know what Imgur is? It's an image hosting service. If it bothers you that much, launch a sandboxed VM and manually copy and paste the URLs in my OP.

the 497.29 (win 10) was released 12/20/2021 with an HZD fix ... the 495.46 (linux) was released 12/13/2021 with no mention of HZD ... looks like we have to wait for nvidia to get around to serving the redheaded step child.

but thanks for confirming 495.46 does nothing for HZD, just spared me from manually compiling the driver on mint.

Also, I noticed the last screenshot I uploaded doesn't really capture fully the weirdness with grasses and leaves. But it's definitely a very distracting effect and kind of ruins the playability. As a further aside, while I'm happy the fps readouts are pretty steady around 30-35 fps on my GTX 1060 6GB, I am disappointed it's not somewhat higher.

Broadly it seems that I should get similar performance to my R9 390 8GB, which gets me around 30-45 fps.

Also, I checked and my Ryzen 7 1700 system w/ 16GB of RAM (the screenshot claims 24 GB but I think that's the Proton Windows VM using some swap space in addition) is correctly using boost clocks, as I see the speed jumping to 3.2 GHz in CPU-X. The RAM itself is at 2666 MHz CL16 or something to that effect.

Cause you don't understand why people choose the Linux systems and why it's dangerous to be a slave of MS. I also changed my mind stone weeks ago and it's great to control your system. In windows case you are controlled by. You can also check what is wine and proton. It's not a emulation and most of the games working great on Linux (Fedora in my case). So it's not multiplayer game and normally must to work well

but... game works fine on Steam Deck with Prothon Experimental or latest ProthonGE...

I have in ass what other users use wystems, I use win11 and Linux on Deck. Linux suck on gaming. But works.

We just like to annoy the windows fanboys and there are no ads in my start menu. Last time I tried to buy something on GOG my bank put a hold on the transaction. When I called, they said "You DO realize GOG is out of Cyprus right?" Apparently there is a lot of fraud out of Cyprus these days. I'll stick to steam thanks.
