How to use AMD FSR?
If AMD FSR is "enabled" - do I also have to reduce the resolution? I tried several FSR quality settings and nothing changes - neither quality nor performance speed (FPS). :sbconfused:

I dont agree: other games on my PC run faster with FSR enabled - so it ist not basically my PC.
You may not agree, but I'm still right.

Horizon Zero Dawn is rather cpu heavy, and your cpu isn't up to snuff. Thus, lowering the resolution the game runs at via FSR doesn't improve your frame rate.

It's not complicated.

So, it's the game's fault: it uses too much CPU instead of the descrete graphics card (RX6600XT 8 GB). WOnder if I can somehow test this.

No, it's the fact that your cpu is weaker than an i5 from 2011.

You... really don't understand what the problem is, do you?

I don't see any CPU "bottleneck" here:

Uhh, cpu under 30fps...and you dont see problem?
About the best you’ll likely be able to do is limit fps to 30, relieve some strain on the poor cores and should still be playable at least.

CPU, CPU, CPU ... I have a good graphics card that should do graphics - not the CPU! :sbconfused:

So are there known settings that are highly CPU bound? I alread lowered/switched off all those antialiasing, bluring, clouds, etc.

You realize the graphics card can only render frames as fast as it can get data from the cpu, right?

Big oof. Yea you kinda need cpu to feed the gpu.

Just drop everything down to low. There’s i’m sure performance impact guide(s) if you google, I just turned it to max at 1440p and been enjoying it (esp. since dlss update where i just turn that on performance when swapping to laptop since the stupid cloud saves transfers settings...).

I found lots of "Horizon Zero Dawn performance tweaks" on the net, but none explained which settings help the CPU and which are only GPU bound.

I also skip those Vulkan shaders processing at start as it takes ages and comes ... on every start of the game! (Which is stupid - why does Steam have shader precache downloads anyway?.)

Doing vulkan shader compiling would be an impressive feat for a game that uses directx 12.

Here's a link some place did with tha cpu and a gtx1650...it pretty much cripples the gpu,

If you let the shaders complete, they don't run again.

Well, Steam is doing it for this game ... saying:

"Horizon Zero Dawn - Steam
Processing Vulkan shaders ...
SKIP"

:steamfacepalm:

Well, I don't mind such "benchmarks" because I just care how the game actually runs - and I have lots of new games running much better on my PC (way over 60 FPS) than Horizon. But in the end, nothing will help and I have to stick to it. Thanks anyway!
