Override on Strider Blows them Up??

Everytime I use the Override Device on a Strider, it kills them instead of overriding them.

I sneak up behind them, Press and Hold the "E" Button, do not get the Filled in Ring around the "E" showing progress, then the Strider "Blows Up". Leaving me with a pile of useless metal.

I have cleared through all the Striders in the area. I have restarted multiple times, all with no success.

Anyone have any suggestions on a possible fix?

Also, I never got the Tutorial for the use of the Device.
